Won but no idea what!

Received this by email and text: "Full Sail Session Summer Sweeps- Winning Notification

"Hi Amber,

I am contacting on behalf of Full Sail Brewing. You've been selected one of our daily winners of the Full Sail Session Summer Sweeps by entering on the sweeps website! Congrats!

Please respond to this email or the text I sent you with your name and DOB (age verification) to accept your sweepstakes prize before Thursday (7/14)."

It also attached an affidavit that I need to get notarized and send back. No idea what I won since the rules say it could be anywhere from a coozie, to a cooler, to a long board. I'm just hoping that they don't have me notarize something like that for a hat or insulated mug. Thoughts??

2. PRIZES/ODDS: DAILY PRIZES: 100 daily prizes of Session branded apparel and other non-beverage Session products will be given away during this promotion. congrats you never know, i'd still get it notorized even if only a small prize you just never know, it could be the most expensive one too. Keep sweeping :)

Yeah, I'd go ahead and get it notarized. You never know!! Congrats to you! You'll have to keep us in the loop of what it turned out to be :) :) :)

You can never be sure with some promoters, but I'd focus on the items worth more than $600.

Congrats, I've been entering that sweep also.

Thanks guys! I got it notarized and sending it in now. Thing is: it doesn't ask my social security number on the affidavit, so that makes me think it's not anything over $600. Just hoping that it's worth the $10 I spent to get it notarized (my bank wouldn't do it =( )

Breweries and other alcohol companies often want an affy notarized, even if the prize is under $600. I think they want you to prove you are over 21 and/or, if it was for limited States (which a lot of brewery sweeps seem to be), they want to be sure you live in the State you say you do. :)

^^^THIS

I've been asked to do an affy for a t-shirt - affy does not automatically = <$600

Don't pay for notary! Chase bank is always free if you have one nearby. Most banks/credit unions I've been to are free...

Chase turned me down. I've gone there twice for sweepstakes prizes, including once last week. This time, the same guy that did it last week (who also seemed to have no idea what he was doing), said he couldn't do it because it was for "personal gain". I ended up paying $10 for it at the UPS store. I will try another Chase bank next time.

Turns out the prize is a camping chair. Hoping it's a really sturdy and nicely made one since they are often $10 or under.

Oh well.

If you got an affidavit then the prize has some value. If it was a hat or koozie they would just mail it..... good luck, hope you get a big one!

Location location location - AFAIK the Federal gov't does not require banks to offer notary public service to NON customers - but it could be that where you are the local/State gov't might and/or the bank may choose to offer notary public service to NON customers

Chase Banks as well as other financial institutions offer notary public service to customers.
Some charge fees others will provide free service if the participant is a current customer of the bank.

Bottom line - most will offer free notary to customers & charge a nominal fee for NON customers

*I go to mail stores [after calling to make sure notary works that day} and have paid $5 to $10 for the service
