Make a Suggestion Thread

I'll toss a couple out there; 1. In the Forum add a SA Webmail link in the Jump to: drop down menu.
2. Have the Forum search register the subject as well as the body of posts.

Re: : Make a Suggestion Thread

suggestion and question:

Member Sweepstakes link on Home Page

I still do not understand the list (right under date at top of home page).

Someone said it was a search option.

if so how to use?

If not, what is it?

I love the Jump To option and the fact that each page does not stay open. There were days when I was wearing out my index finger closing. :smt017

There isn't a member sweepstakes link right under the date on the home page. The links right under the date are for search. For example: select My Sweepstakes to search your My Sweepstakes list.

Glad you like the Jump to: :)

Would it be worthwhile to have the sort settings user default enabled? It's not a huge deal but I only use one setting and have to change to it every time I log in.

The reason is that this setting is stored in your login cookie and not the database. When you logout the cookie gets deleted and your setting gets reset. I stay logged in all the time because I don't share a computer. I guess you folks are sharing a computer? :)

Right, I stay logged into SA also. If I reopen Firefox my settings are still there, but I must log off my computer and the settings are gone. Try this one. I would like to be able to post a note from the page that I am on as soon as I add an entry to My Sweepstakes. I'm using the reminder system now but it is an extra step and adds to my email clutter.

The way the system is setup I can only allow post note to sweepstakes that are already in My Sweepstakes. The note actually gets added to the my sweepstakes table in the database under your id. :)

I'd have to redesign the system so that the notes are stored some place else and this woud cause many changes on the site. I'll have to give this some thought. Thank you for the feedback.

Thanks, don't pull your hair out on that one. Try this; away to send a personal note from the refer link.

I think a function that will allow members to track number of entries would be a good enhancement. Right now, I use notes for this purpose, but a quick click button would be more streamlined. I love the notes as they are, though, and wouldn't want that changed at all.

I just posted a vote request in the announcements forum. This is one of the items. Please vote for it so that we can prioritize what we should accomplish first. :)

I voted for the enhanced search function because I add sweeps sometimes, and better search functionality will eliminate more dupes. All the ideas are good, though. :)

Question
just a suggestion:
how about a separate category for "essay type" contests??

Yes, a separate category for contests, as opposed to sweepstakes, would really make me happy. My biggest win came from a recipe contest, and I would like to keep those separate for careful consideration and entry.

There are some of us with two or more sweepers in a house. What is really needed is to list how many times of entry per person and/or email or household. For example: 1X per person or 1X per person per e-mail or 1x per household. There are many combinations and they can be pasted right from the rules. In the limited amount of sweeps that I reviewed, I have noticed a few mistakes involving frequency such a the sweeps listed as 1X when they were daily. This mistake would probably be avoided if the lister would search for the above information as they are looking for frequency. I have brought this up before and was told that it is too much work. Most of the other good sweeps sites list their sweeps this way as it is part of listing a sweep. Please consider my suggestion as it is very tedious to go to the rules or back and forth to other sites to get the information. And, no, I would not have to go to the rules anyway as companies such as Entertainment World have the same rules but sometimes have 1x per person and sometimes 1x per household. Thank you so much for considering my suggestion.

If ya want to I will look when I enter and put in the comments what I find if you can do the same. If we put it in the comments maybe gsw will add it to the listing . maybe if we do it more members will do the same. what do ya think? I dont mind helping out. the mods are very busy.

IMHO, If the entry is per person per day, the listing shouldn't need to have it posted because that's the norm.

When there are limits it needs to be noted - like per HH, on PST/CST, etc.

If I add a sweeps, I note it in the listing or after the end date if it is on a time zone other than EST - the other norm.
