I am going to Plano (just outside of Dallas) to visit my Parents.
I do not know if any of you know this, but in April of last year, my Dad had a Quadruple heart bypass surgery, while he was n the hospital recovering, my Mom had bladder surgery (the hospital was kind enough to put them in the same room). less than a week after they got out of the hospital (3 days to be exact) they had to have the entire house packed and moved to Texas. (they sold the house here in Wisconsin, and had to be out by a certain date or they would be charged $$). This also happened to be the same time my Husband was in a Crohn's flair so bad he was off work (2 months later he had surgery for the Crohn's). My Family (my husband and our kids and I) got them packed and my parents refused to let anyone else drive (My Dad can be a real ass that way when he wants to) so the two of them fresh out of the hospital and not supposed to drive, drove the U-Haul to Texas by themselves.
Any way here it is almost a year later, and my Dad needs more surgery (to do a bypass, they strip veins out of the legs to attach to the heart, and usually where they take the veins out of the legs, the veins will regrow new veins down the leg) What has happened to him is...no new veins have regrown, and the veins that are in his legs are blocked....so they are going to try doing an angioplasty in his leg veins (like they would in a heart, the Doctors will insert a catheter with a balloon to inflate down each section to open up the vein). His feet have been blue for over a month, and he has diabetes, COPD, emphysema, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and god only knows what else...anyway, if the angioplasty doesn't work they will have to amputate his feet. Needless to say he is very frightened and so is my Mother.
I will be home in time to go to my 26 year olds trial by 12 person jury. He might be going to Prison for life. He currently is in Prison already for probation revocation on a breaking and entering charge from when he was 18. The revocation was because of the upcoming trial.
To make a LONG story short, here it is in a nutshell.
Age 17 he had a 17 year old Girl friend (this is the important part, she was 3 weeks YOUNGER than he was), one day on the bus ride home from school, they were sitting next to each other (as usual) making out (as high school kids do) and he was caught on the bus camera with his hand under her shirt. Because she was a whole 3 weeks younger, he was charged with a sex crime (second degree molestation of a minor child). This is now on his permanent record and he is listed as a Sex Offender.
Now in July of last year (right after Jason's surgery) a 17 year old girl went to the police saying she was 6 months pregnant with my son's child. (My son was married and going to collage all while working too). With the girls only proof was her word, they arrested my son, and since they could not do a DNA until after the baby was born and no way to prove he was the Father, and wanted to make sure he "did not run from the law", and only had 3 months left of the probation of the breaking and entering business when he was 18....they revoked his probation and gave him Prison time (not county jail) until June 2010.
His trial is Feb 27th, and guess what...the DNA results will not be done until mid march....but even without the DNA evidence, they are going to proceed with the trial. It is his word against hers, and there is proof she was dating at least 3 other guys during the time frame she got pregnant (remember my son was working?? the 3 boys she was dating were all in high school and jobless). anyway I digress, They are charging him with another sex crime (molestation of a child) and because technically it is his second offense, and Wisconsin has passed a new law, he could go to Prison for life with no possibility of parole! and with a previous sex offense on his record...well I am not optimistic.

On top of it all my Lupus has really been acting up (all the stress in my life)

Two Strikes, You're Out" bill to put repeat child sex offenders away for life passes U.S. House in JULY.
by Mark Green
According to a study by researchers at Emory University, the average adult child sex offender claims 380 victims in a lifetime. Nevertheless, the average child molester spends fewer than three years in prison, according to the KlaasKids Foundation an organization founded by Marc Klaas following the murder of his 13-year-old daughter, Polly.
In July we won a significant battle toward changing those terrible figures when the U.S. House of Representatives passed my "Two Strikes, You're Out Child Protection Act." The bill is simple it requires a life sentence for anyone who is convicted twice for committing sex crimes against children.
