Facebook & Twitter Questions

Hi everyone..You all seem so knowledgeable that I feel my question may be your laugh for the day but your kindness to other newbies has given me the courage to ask anyway...here goes.. I have a small Facebook page that I use primarily just to stay in touch with family, etc. & I had really rather not use that for the Facebook Sweeps or "likes" & wondered if you have a secondary FB page or Twitter acct for sweeping only. Now I suppose I should be glad that I can't "hear" laughter..Of course, before I forego entering a Sweeps, Uncle Hank or Aunt Elsie will just have to be a bit understanding concerning my new "likes" & other Sweeping fun. Still, my curiosity stubbornly wonders about the possibility of having a second FB Page devoted only to Sweeping so I do thank you in advance for any comments & once again, let me say that I have certainly been impressed at how kind most of you are as well as extremely helpful in guiding us "Newbies"...Good Luck in Winning...& thanks again..

Re: Facebook & Twitter Questions

:sunny: First let me welcome you to our sweeping family! Not a silly question at all. Setting up an account for sweeping on FB & Twitter is highly recommended especially if you plan on entering alot of sweeps. It's amazing to me how many posts I get from all the sweeping, thousands a day! I only wish I had set up a separate account just for this as now it takes me forever to sort thru all the posts to read what my friends/family have posted. I have however, found many friends/family are now getting involved in sweeping because of my posts. Best of luck to you!

Re: Facebook & Twitter Questions

Thanks Pmeek for your answer...Didn't hear from anyone else so guess it must not be breaking any rules, anyway! In any case, I'm going to set up a separate page & limit it to my sweeping so I'll let you know how it goes. I do feel overwhelmed even tho I used to snail mail all the time until about a few yrs ago when online took over. There are now so many online that to have any kind of percentage at all, I decided that I would give it a try. I really need either roboform or autofill & at this point, I think roboform plus would probably be worth the extra money...what do u think? I'm on limited funds currently..until I win something, anyway! Anyhow, I know there is a lot of info on here about roboform but it would be really nice to hear from somone personally...By the way, my favorite place in all of the country is the Northwest & I would love to live in either Washington or Oregon...TX is just too hot & dry but I can't get anyone else in the family with the independence to head Northwest. Still, I can hope..Once again, thanks for taking time to answer..May "winning" favor visit you soon!! cm, just an easttxgirl

Re: Facebook & Twitter Questions

We recently discussed how many FB accts you are allowed

FB terms:

https://www.facebook.com/terms.php

Registration and Account Security

Facebook users provide their real names and information, and we need your help to keep it that way. Here are some commitments you make to us relating to registering and maintaining the security of your account:

1. You will not provide any false personal information on Facebook, or create an account for anyone other than yourself without permission.
2. You will not create more than one personal profile.
3. If we disable your account, you will not create another one without our permission.
4. You will not use your personal profile for your own commercial gain (such as selling your status update to an advertiser).
5. You will not use Facebook if you are under 13.
6. You will not use Facebook if you are a convicted sex offender.
7. You will keep your contact information accurate and up-to-date.
8. You will not share your password, (or in the case of developers, your secret key), let anyone else access your account, or do anything else that might jeopardize the security of your account.
9. You will not transfer your account (including any page or application you administer) to anyone without first getting our written permission.
10. If you select a username for your account we reserve the right to remove or reclaim it if we believe appropriate (such as when a trademark owner complains about a username that does not closely relate to a user's actual name).

i have made seperate twitter and facebook accounts just for sweeping. I use the same email that i use for sweeping. I don't have any friends on those accounts and have very minimal information. If you have a full facebook profile and you "allow access" to an application in order to enter a sweep you are allowing them to view your full profile and on occasion your friends profiles. I don't like that but i didn't want to exclude myself from these sweeps so that was my solution. :sunny:

If facebook catches that you have 2 accounts they will suspend you...just an FYI. I had it happen.

Re: How to Delete Applications on Facebook

Ever wonder about privacy when allowing applications to enter Sweeps/IWG's on Facebook? Or wonder if you're still allowing access long after a Sweep has ended? Here's an excellent link giving step by step instructions on how to delete applications.

Once a Sweep or IWG ends I always delete the application since I no longer want or need to allow access to my information.

Re: Facebook & Twitter Questions

Amy, thanks so much for all of the info...I will make sure to do just that as i don't want to do anything to get eliminated..I already love this hobby so certainly don't want to get stopped before getting started. I have read many of your posts & you are a walking encyclopedia!! With the popularity of sweeping growing, you really should consider writing a book. I, for one, really do appreciate all of the time you have put into helping not just the "newbies" like me but I've noticed you don't discriminate but help everyone who's in a bind. Karma, reaping what you sow, what goes around, etc...whichever one you prefer, as the easttxboy would say, "that girl has a shiny future"...another really super intelligent remark...! many thanks again for all the info re: FB... from easttx

You know, my sis suggested something similar - she said I should get paid for my knowledge. :crazytongue:

I look at it differently - sweepers are in it for the possibilty of a payoff for their time/energy, and wouldn't take kindly to someone asking to get paid for info found freely all over the net! :crazytongue:

I also know I don't know all there is to know, so I wouldn't presume to act as if I did - my goal is to learn and share

I have a single one since its against facebook terms to have more then one. But I have my friends and family and those I do not want to bother set to acquaintances so when I share I click to share with friends except acquaintances which is a option if you click the pull down that says friends.
