Sorry if this has been asked before. I did a search and didn't find anything.

Whenever I like a page on FB, those pages' posts are now flooding my newsfeed. Can I "unfollow" those pages while still maintaining the "like," keeping me still qualified for those giveaways? After entering a few blog contests and liking the multitude of pages, their posts are nearly all I see on my facebook activity!

I hope someone knows the answer to this: I enter a lot of FB sweeps that require me to "like" the sponsor, usually a corporation, and it is often embarrassing when my new "likes" are splashed down all my friends' newsfeeds. I cannot find a link anywhere on FB Help as to how to block this. I guess they assume if you "like" something you want your friends to know. I know how to hide the likes and the corporate posts from appearing on my own Wall, but I just can't seem to get them off the newsfeed that my friends and family see. Since my daughter and I are often online at the same time in the same room, and she's on FB, I know my "likes" show up instantly in my friends' newsfeed, often before I have even finished entering the sweeps!

Can anyone give a suggestion? Much appreciated!

always select "ONLY ME" when asked who can see the post or activities from these apps if you do not want them to show on friends newsfeeds

You can actually go into your account settings and hide your page likes so they will all be automatically hidden from everyone. That's how I have mine set.

Go to your profile, select "update info" then click on the "About" drop down menu and select "Likes". From there, select "edit" in the right corner, and scroll down to "Other Pages You Like", and from the drop down menu select "only me".

Hope that helps!

Thank you for your reply, amyshulk. I actually do have my like activity hidden from my timeline so it only shows up for me. It's not what's showing up on OTHERS' pages, but rather what's showing up on MINE. Meaning, when I like a page, I don't want to be inundated by the countless posts those pages make on my own wall. For example, if I like a blog's FB page named ABC, then every time ABC posts a status update I see it on my news feed. Can I unfollow ABC (from the drop-down option next to any of ABC's posts) and still be eligible for ABC's contest, as I haven't "unliked" the page? I hope this makes sense!

Right, not sure you can! You'd have to go thru FB's FAQ's to find out.

I allow them because I get the trade off - they use ad $$ for promos so I advertise for them in return for the shiny I *might* win, lol!

BLOG rules are murky - I don't even bother with them - but it all depends on what the rules say for *each* promo.

Some sponsors require you to follow them until at least after their drawing, not just the promo end date, and will DQ you if you are drawn and have un-followed them.
