Wow, didnt you they ahd sweepstakes conventions. I live a few miles away, might go, im kind of a sweepstakes-newbie tho lol.

33 hours on a Greyhound bus is $99 from Miami each way. You can set a goal to win Amtrak or other travel prizes as that is how I got to the convention. with advanced planning you can do it.

I went to my first convention and had lots of money owed me and Ken even loaned me enough for a hotel room but I went with nothing. The last convention I used Delta tickets I won, ate at Taco Bell and a Chicago restaurant which were wins. I did surveys for money and mypoints to get a free room. I took toiletries that I had won and some of my clothes I had won.

Make it your goal to win some stuff for the trip. Check local radio, newspaper and television sites.

Well I defintely can't go this year. But I will try to win some stuff (money) or something so I can go next year :) Cause it sounds like so much fun.

I can defintely help on giving some suggestions on places to eat that are very, very good and not tourist traps and will save every one some money. I will get a list together and get it posted here. Also, do not walk out alone on the riverwalk at night. Only in groups and never carry purses, lots of cash or wear expensive jewelry. Crime has been bad down there. The police have done a whole lot to clean it up the last couple of years but I would still err on the side of caution. (My parents lived in a burb of San Antonio a couple of years.) I can't wait to meet some of yall!

San Diego was in May and they have been in June or July usually but due to the cost of tourist season they chose the late August date.

YOU CAN DO IT, COME ON SA AND MAKE THIS THE BEST CONVENTION EVER.

Clean and wild fun by the best bunch of sweepers anywhere in the universe.

I was wondering... what do they cover at a convention like this. Do they have lectures or activities on how to win more. I might be interested in going. It's only about 2.5 hours away.

Yes there are lectures and speakers talking about winning strategies and stupid things we do. It is real informative and I learned a lot each time. You get to meet people and talk with them, boy the tips and stories you hear.

Yes tweaka... Churchyyy is absolutely right. Everyday of the convention there are speakers lined up per the schedule and tell us tonnnsss of information on sweepstakes, the "do's and don'ts" of sweeping, how they won houses, cars, and cash over 10K. This thing is a blast and the good thing is it's a year away... Gives us plenty of time to save up for it. You meet so many people who love the same hobby we do. Then all the siteseeing and shopping and eating and exploring. A great way to travelllll too

There's so much convention talk all the time at The Other Site, I wonder if they get a cut from the people running it to push it at the forum.

Are the conventions for all sweepers, regardless of what site they use? Do the people at conventions tend to form cliques based on the site they're affiliated with? I have no plan to attend this one. Maybe next time.

How come you don't plan to go to next year's convention? It's in August of 2008 Yes, the convention is for anyone who sweeps. They really catter to the ones who do snail mail, but they are getting better at the online crowd. And yes, cliques are formed according to what newsletter/website you subscribe to. Lots of people to meet and talk to. It's such a good time... Try and change your mind on going sweepyhead. You can sit and me and Tiffy's table....
