Its nice that you can talk to the mods over here and they talk back. On the other place I always felt like the mods had special friends they were nice to and I was just some freak that had wandered in and was cluttering up the place. :error:

What I'm ticked off about is that he still has my personal stuff like my daughter's picture that I can't get to to delete. He has no legal right to have that without my permission.

Also, I for one, do not want to see names from the other place being outright used and posted here. There's no call for it; and if you happen to say the wrong thing, that could set off a whole chain of trouble for the webmaster here. Not to mention, just the outright trouble it will cause. As soon as you use a name, you're giving them the right to come here and defend themselves; and then the trouble begins. By not using names, they have no grounds to stand on even if they know they are the ones being talked about. I'm also disappointed to see some posting here sounding like that form of posting over there, and I hope it doesn't continue. This is a nice site, because members act maturely and considerately; and I don't want to see that change.

You know I have noticed that too. Since I have been here the mods have always been kind to me and like you were saying I didn't even know some were mods. I honestly just now realized 3mnkids1 is a mod :laughing: She is just like the rest of us crazy people lol. And the others are all great. I feel like I allready know a couple personally and that is the reason I feel so welcome here. Maybe that comes from the fact that we are all equal no two tier site. Paying nonpaying.

If there is a clique here I haven't seen it. I think it's all a matter of respecting other members. That doesn't mean we all don't have different opinions but that we act like adults hopefully lol and that we don't act like middle school bullies.

Not all the mods mistreat people over there, and I never had problems with them personally. I agree with your point that the two-tier system is a part of the power trip. They know they can withhold your access and try to steal your cash by banning you.

As I've said, the other place was great before it became a paying site and it got too big. I hope this place doesn't get so big that it loses its small town feel.

I didn't know all the mods but I can think of 2 who were nice but at least 1 I know of is on a major power trip. I have only been there for a year so I can't speak for what it was like before that but from my own experience I am very disappointed.

I do think with good moderators though even if a site grows you can run a good and fair site. So come on over folks.

I think that ultimately a site's direction is determined by the webmaster and his or her attitude, and I have lots of confidence in SA's admin. He's just a very good guy, always working to move the site forward. I think he would keep his mods in line if they became a problem.

Hoping, guessing, but I feel a lot of confidence that this will remain a good place.

HA...wait until you get called a bi**h by a mod. I think that was the maddest I have ever been. I was completely stunned. I guess I should feel special, because when I complained to another mod, she DID apologize and tell me the thread was closed. I believe that was the point I decided to heck with it...say whatever is on my mind and let the chips fall where they may.

The utter lack of consistency used to drive me batty.It was OK for some people to say anything and others would get whacked the second they stuck their heads up. Like the first time I was banned-one mod told me I was banned, one mod told me I wasn't. :error: I wasn't even sure what banning consisted of at that point so I just didn't post for what, ten months? When I came back and found out the mod who had banned me was banned-then I decided the place was insane. :crazytongue:
If you don't know what is going on nobody is going to tell you. I never got that page opening feature to work. I did not even know the place had an arcade. The rules are all as clear as mud. Before I got blocked I was told I was going to be banned, so then when I was blocked I assumed it was some new form of banned. The way I understand it, you can be banned completely from the site, or only banned from posting, notes, etc. I may be completely banned now...haven't been back so I'm not sure. Been busy here trying to learn all the cool features and start sweeping again. It's been 2 months since I entered any sweeps!! I have a lot of catching up to do!!

We do try to be fair here! We like our members and we are not going to let anyone post anyone elses names in a disrespectful manner. It isn't about any one person ~ it is about everyone! We don't care if we know them or not. We don't want to sink to a low that we can't recover from. 3m is doing what she is suppose to be doing, just like I did the other day. I had a member from the other site pm me and I did the same thing for that member because I missed that post. Just keep things general. I know there are strong feelings, but we have to keep things civil ~ you know we do.

What I find outright funny about that place is the lies they tell to the members, and the way they swallow them whole, e.g., lots of people believe the mods are "volunteers," do it for the love of the site, when they're actually paid staff. Why would anybody work as a staff member for a lucrative business and not expect to be paid at least a small stipend?

Also, they keep insisting that personal messages are not being read, and cannot be read, as the forum software doesn't allow it. There are programs called forum hacks that let you do just that, and people post about them publicly at webmasters' forum boards.

The other site's webmaster recently updated his forum version, and it may be because the forum hacks they may have been using no longer worked with their old vBulletin version. Just a speculation of course.

In case you had not noticed its getting to the point that not many people are left over there to believe anything. For a real eye opener search on the site name at Boardreader, then use their advanced graph feature to check on number of posts. In the past six months posting has gone through the floor. Major discontinuity if you're into math stuff. There are a variety of causes for this-delays in providing paying members with access to premium material, site outages-and the worst one (to me anyway) seems to be rumor. The rumor that people will be blackballed by the JAs for entering through that site has grown feet and is stomping all over the place. A recent problem with JA's and members on an OLS spin off site did not help said rumor die down any, either. There is all this weird vibe floating around out there....and its not a good vibe. :scratch:

Another thing I wanted to add in regards to mentioning names from the other site. I agree we should not say anyone else's name but since I did mention a couple I only said those names because they are also members of this site. I saw the one name at the top of the page where it shows who is reading this post. So I do apologize for saying names out right and it will not happen again. That is just another issue I have they talk about how we are members here and how awful that is but they are doing the same thing. At least I didn't deny it.

We are all human and make mistakes and get mad. We do things and regret them later. So what. Most things are not things that can't be undone. Yes, you may hurt some feelings, but there are ways of making up for that also. You are not going to be banned for having to have something edited here. We usually tell you why we edit something ~ no we are not mad, we just have to do it for the best interest of the site.

As for the mod thing here ~ I am a total volunteer! I am here all the time anyway ~ I love the site. You would be surprised at how many people would do it if asked. Ken ran a little ad asking for people awhile back when the site started to really grow and got many volunteers and thus this batch of mods! I don't know about those over there, but there is nothing here for us to gain but a wonderful site!

That's great, and in truth I don't care if they pay their mods or not, but they have built up such a myth about themselves and I thought I would let it out that certain things are not true.

Ok Im just gonna jump in here real fast. And say what im thinking.

I wasn't really a member of zzz. But I have a log in for there. I only use it to see the winners/winners list. I don't post anything.
Well anyways. I dont really know all about the "crazy stuff" that goes on over there. Just from what I heard. But what I see is they seem really greedy. LIke alot of there posts are about the prizes and its ARV. And alot of them have lists that have the amount theyve made from the prizes.
Alot of the sa'ers are just happy when they win a small prize. They don't post lists of long prizes with ARV's. I've also noticed. Alot of thier lists, have double things on them. Like double wins, when they werent sopposed to win more then one.
Yea well those are just my thoughts.

You've been a member of zzz long enough to know their evil ways and you obviously did something that they surely didn't take kindly in which they decided to ban you. Well join the crowd, that's why most of us are here now. We've excepted there piece of crap decision and have found another home... SA... I never even knew about SA until a member over at zzz reccommended SA to me when she seen how they threw me out all for just demanding a refund in the forums for all other members to see. I seen some screen shots of a mod and a member talkin mad crap about tiny and me and deciding there is no way in **** that I'm gonna be apart of a site that allows that kind of behavior... Never went back since... Those that do apparently like the dirt...

inthesticks: please don't bash momma of 3, I see her posts/threads and they are always light-hearted and genuine. Never, ever, have I seen her "pick" someone out and use them as a target. Momma of 3 is completely right, as members of SA we can not use names of people from other sites and post them here. Not cool,.... So, yes, I see her point in either editing or deleteing your posts. She was only trying to keep the SA rules and regulations in-tact.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion and I respect that. However, I don't think I have posted anywhere that I am "shocked" to be banned. Quite the opposite as a matter of fact....I fully expected it to happen at anytime. As I stated before, I pretty much posted what I felt. As far as not being here since tiny joined, that's not quite correct. I had joined SA long before that episode. Like I said, I stayed because I had already paid for a year. However, there are several people that will tell you I had told them(Cin, Tharedhead, a couple of people from over there) "never again", and that I was finished with that site when my membership expired. Lastly, I hadn't posted over there for probably close to a month. I had a good friend call me in tears because the trolls decided to gang up on her in a thread, and she asked if I would say something, which I did. No, I was certainly no angel. As you know, I usually have very different views from most of the crowd, and march to my own drummer. You may not agree with me, but it's nice to be where I can state my viewpoint without the lynch mob ready to hang me. Cheers to you chickadee, and many big wins to ya!! :cheers:
