What Gets Your Goat?

As I progress through life, I often find myself less patient with people; more skeptical, increasingly annoyed by things...whether it's something on the news, something being done in Congress, the human condition, whatever. I find that some of these antics really "get my goat"...and although there is not much I can do about the situations, I can still kvetch and moan about them. So, here goes...feel free to post things that get your goat as well.

Something that gets my goat today...after reading the beginning of an article in the latest Newsweek magazine: "Filling up at a gas station in Pelham Manor, NY, the shocking thing isn't the $3.33-per-gallon price. No, it's the red LUKOIL sign atop the cinderblock building. The Russian energy behemoth, which bought Getty in 2000, has transformed hundreds of Northeast outlets into Lukoil stations (417 at current count)."

What's wrong with this picture? Perhaps it's the thought of a Russian oil company selling Americans gasoline at the pump. And that really gets my goat!

Its funny but its the little things that get to me. The older I get the less tolerant I am. :nono: What gets my goat is this---empty packages in the pantry and in the fridge. if you use the last of something throw the box away!!!! I hate that. or people who take up two parking spots because they are soooo special. im gunna like this thread.

My wife and I tried goat the other day. Wanted to see what it tasted like. The butcher grabbed a head and cut us off some meat from the neck. He also took us into the freezer and showed us some whole/skinned ones. My brother-in-law almost lost it in there. He's not as adventerous with this food choices. :crazytongue:

We had goat in Jamaica. Actually it was pretty good. I guess it could have been the mix of all the rum drinks, sun and ocean BUT none the less, I recall that it tasted really good. What gets my goat is people using handicap parking spaces that do not need them. I swear I just want to get out and jack slap'em. I know that some people have disabilities that you can not see and that is certainly their call but when I see a car load of 16 year olds bob out of their dad's big SUV from a handicap spot I want to scream!!!!!!!!!! I also hate people that talk on their cell phone while driving BUT they are going 2 miles an hour. I want a tshirt that says " SHUT UP AND DRIVE"

I totally agree with that!

What gets my goat is the people in my part time job who cannot speak properly on the phone.

That's what's getting my goat today. :hiding:

Professionals that try to take advantage of my 20 something daughter. She broke a tooth the other day and this seemingly caring, supportive dentist tried to con her into thinking that he would take care of it for her root canal and cap for a compassionate yet unreasonable fee of 2000.00. Which is double the going rate if ya call around.

Capitalism is whatever the market will bare with a lobby to cap insurance payments for malpractice, workman's comp, and other liabilities incurred. And democracy gives a bunch of number crunchers the right to determine if it's cheaper to, settle out of court, seal the records, and hide the truth. Or actually enlighten the public of a safety hazard and fix the problem.
My goat is fluent in many languages.....

Inconsideration in any form - blocking the right on red turn lane, leaving empty pkgs in the cupboards/fridge, or people who assume others must do for them with nary an acknowlegdement

Thunderstorms..why? Because my dog wont SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!. sorry. He just barks and barks and paces until I want to muzzle him and throw him in a closet. :cussing: I wont of course.

Spam mail, emails that say congratulations you won.....Free shipping, or something stupid like that. uhhhhh that makes me so mad.

Great post. Am I that crabby that I could list a few???...... My pet peeve is people who walk in front of you in the mall of supermarket and suddenly stop short to look at something. Can't these people realize someone else is walking behind them???!!!

P.S. -- If you don't like the empty cookie packages in the closet, don't have kids, they'll do it to you every time...lol!!!

And here's one more goat getter from me. Don't ya just love those people who - at the airport no less- get to the top of the escalator and just stop and have a gab fest with all the family who came out to greet them. Get off the freaking escalator!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sooooo wish I had a stun gun. I would use it often :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:

lol.... love the hostility. :headbang:

Here's my Goat. Let's call him/her Gabby.

Don't you love people who blow off red lights or almost cause major accidents because they can't put their cell phone down or don't have a hands free set?

Never ceases to amaze me. ( I say to myself.. "Oh sorry you have a cell phone, you have a special license to drive crazy ") :crazytongue:

* Liked the airport Goat too.

here is my I am in a crabby mood today and this just pushed me over the edge type thing

people that need attention 24/7 and will make up just about anything that will give them that attention and the real kicker some people actually believe these attention seekers and give them not only attention but material things too

Hello!! just look at some of the things being said and find out that X% are not even allowed by the laws/rules/medical practices/insurances or whatever

gees
in the end I just figure its better to just laugh at the stupid being conned instead of getting into a big ol you are a meanie just post nice fight Maybe I will save my sanity and just put that entire place on ignore lol

oh I so agree with the cell phone while driving goats but add that people eating with a fork/ spoon while driving is just as bad I once seen a gal driving thru town while eating soup and it was not the cup of soup you drink. Her turning was all stiff and jerky cause she could hardly hold the wheel, bowl, and spoon at the same time.

I want a stun gun too, but then I would need to buy stock in a battery company to keep me powered up from its over use lmao

I had a pet goat as a kid and when a pack of no longer wanted dogs hurt it we put it down and had it for dinner its actually pretty good at least I think it was I was just a lil kiddo when we had it.

We lost alot of animals to that pack of dogs before the neighborhood started getting rid of the dogs

I sort of Blame the cell phone companies. They make soo much money. Billions. They should include a free hands free set with every phone. What would it cost them to do that.? I think it would be minimal compared to their profit margin.

Some hands free sets can now even be found at dollar tree stores so cell phone owners can now spend a full dollar and fix the problem too but that would be too easy

I should probably just not post today I would probably want to tazer myself tomarrow after reading it all since one goat is leading to another when I post cause now people letting unwanted pets go in my area is a goat expecially since we have a paper here that allows free ads that they can just say free to good home and then list the pet type or they can take it to a shelter

Okay, two more things that "gets my goat."

1) That the taxpayers had to spend $5 million just to thaw and dispose of all the ice that was bought and stored for three years after Hurrican Katrina. The ice was never used (it could have been used at any of the weather-related disasters to hit the U.S. since Hurrican Katrina), and now it is being destroyed. Why so much money for this? Pay me $10/hour and I would ensure all the ice was melted and the ice bags thrown away...geez. :cussing:

2) The TSA is now allowing cigarette lighters to be carried aboard airplanes again. The taxpayers had to spend $12 million dollars to throw away the 22,000+ lighters confiscated daily at airport security. Why so much money for this? How expensive and difficult could it be to chunk those lighters into a Hefty trash bag and place in the dumpster...geez! :cussing:

The TSA could have sold those lighters on eBay...say, 50 or 100 lighters per bag...sold for a few bucks each. Money could have been made, instead of wasting $12 million dollars!

Okay, another thing I saw yesterday on CNN...that brand new, $59 million dollar jail facility in Portland, OR -- built two years ago and is still not being used. At all!! The lights work, the landscaping is being maintained, the furniture is all in place...but nobody is there...no prisoners, no staff members, no security guards.

OMG! :cussing: This gets my goat! A completely new, modern, state-of-the-art jail facility (which is needed in Portland) -- sits unused. While the taxpayer picks up the tab for maintaining the empty facility and property grounds. What a waste of money...grrr!
