Don't know really where to post this... just curious about the outcome and wondering if it happens often...
I got a call but no voicemail left from PFC in Iowa yesterday morning and after a few back and forth missed calls finally talked to someone there. She said I had been selected as a preliminary 2nd prize winner ($50 7-11 gift card) and she needed to ask me some qualifying questions. Asked if I was 18 or older (yes). Asked if I remember entering the contest (yes. texted every day for about 2 months) Then she asked if I was a legal resident of California. I confidently answered 'No' (I'm in Colorado) and she regretted to inform me that the contest was only available to legal residents of California.
I was a little surprised and hung up. I was scratching my head trying to remember where I had seen the contest to enter it to begin with. Couldn't recall if it was something here on SA and I hadn't read it correctly and overlooked the CA resident restriction. Anyway, I went back to work and forgot about it for a few hours.
I mentioned it to a friend and suddenly remembered where I had seen the contest information. It was attached to a beverage cooler in a 7-11 here in Colorado. I remember it exactly. The day and even the time within about 30 minutes because we had stopped there on our way to a farm to pick vegetables. On the way back the transmission blew out on our SUV and we were stranded for a couple hours on the highway.
So somehow signage for a contest only for CA residents ended up in a 7-11 in Colorado (and who knows how many states?)
I called PFC back and left a message and they haven't called back. I'm not angry or anything. Just wasted about 30 minutes over a couple of months entering a contest I couldn't win but did
I don't know if the rules stated anything about it. I'm sure they did. Just a weird feeling having gone through this.
Anyway. Thanks for reading. Any body else have an experience like this?
