Using a P.o Box as your address

Gets jus' a lil' cramped in there doesn't it? Hard to roll over at night, eh?

Seriously, many sweeps won't allow the use of a PO Box. There are folks who'd use multiple email addresses in conjunction with multiple PO Boxes to enter a sweep multiple times (cheating) in order to gain an advantage. Needless to say, sweeps promoters don't much care for that.

Some sweeps will let you use a PO Box for a mailing address, but you still must list a physical residence address.

Interestingly, you can be homeless and still enter sweeps if you use a laptop and a wifi at Starbucks. 'Course you'd still need an address. Either a PO Box Box (catch 22), or a friends address.

Personally I've been into sweeping since 1983 (manually) and computer since 2001 and I wouldn't give a post office box if I could possible give my home address. I've gotten so much stuff left on the porch that probably would not have been delivered if I'd given the post office box number.

My thoughts are if you don't trust your neighborhood then have things sent to another address, like a sister, friend, parents. Just do anything to keep those packages coming, they are so nice. Just got a movie off the front porch upon arriving home two days ago.

Ya well some of us only have a PO box for USPS mail. So IT SUCKS ASS!
It's NOT FAIR!!!!!!! Not just sweepstakes but many of the things you mail in say no PO box.
If someone is using a PO box for multiple entries or something I can see that, but for some of us this is all we have.
But I have to think they would make an exception if this is all you have. I would hope so.

Unfortunately, since people DID abuse the system with rebates, sweeps entries, etc., they decided to disallow all PO boxes on most sweeps.

Reminds me of:

The teacher with 3 rules and 30 kids. Of the 30, 3 will break the rules. So the teacher adds rules to refine/build on the basic 3, but still 3 kids act out. This does nothing to stop the brats, it just oppresses the good kids, who had no problem obeying. :nono:
