Update on a strange prize

A while back I was notified I was the grand prize winner in a "Seat with Sheet" contest sponsored by Stratos boats. The trip was for one person for one night to fish with fisherman Skeet Reese at a lake in an undisclosed location. I'm a non-fisherman but based on coaxing from my kids I submitted the paperwork. It ends up the location of the trip is to Flippin, Arkansas (yes there is such a place). It also ends up the trip would be for two nights in Flippin. (Why do scenes of the movie Deliverance flash through my head?) It sounds like I would be treated as a VIP being picked up by a Stratos factory driver in Branson, MO. I looked at Flippin, Arkansas on Google maps and it does not look like the place where dreams are made. But the prize is so bizarre that I feel maybe someone is sending me a message that I need to go. Or maybe I've been watching too much TV. The trip is set for late July and I need to decide in the next day or so to accept.

Time to consult the wife and kids!

LOL! I would go just so I could tell people that I was in "Flippin, Arkansas"!!! (Just to see the looks on their faces!) hehe

I've actually been to Flippin Arkansas for fishing. Enjoy it and get a Flippin t-shirt as a reminder. Congratulations

Go to your nearest store that sells fishing items and get yourself a pack of 'flippin' tubes' to take along. Bass love 'em. Actually the pro should have a bunch of them. I won a similar trip to NY's Finger Lakes, from Bass Pro, a few years back and fished with pro Denny Brauer for the day. I was a great weekend for me and my friend. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, too!

congrats on your win. being from arkansas i just wanted to tell you that Flippen isnt a bad place. i know several people from there and they are great people. just relax and enjoy your trip.

I've made a point of NOT entering a contest if the trip is for one person. That would be kind-of awkward for me. Did they give you an option to bring a guest at your expense?
Congratulations anyway!

I am from Arkansas. Can't say I have ever been to Flippin I have been through there. If transportation is free I would go. Take time and enjoy the water. I doubt you would have much interaction with the town. I would take an extra day in Branson or perhaps explore some of the great outdoor trails etc that the ozarks have to offer. Buffalo national river is a fun float trip for the family.

Well, you'd probably regret it if you didn't go, so I say give it a shot (especially if you like hot weather). Maybe it will inspire a best-selling novel and we'll be seeing you on GoodReads.

Yep, bizarre alright. If you are curious with a sense of adventure it could be fun. If you're more of a homebody bring out the fuzzy slippers and watch TV. Have a great time whatever you decide.
