My thoughts and prayers go out to all that may be impacted by the path of this potential hurricane... Please be safe

Thanks for the prayers...Waking up to find myself in the middle of the cone of uncertainty. Been through lots of hurricanes, but I'm really dreading this one for some reason.

We lived in Ft Myers when Dan Rather stirred up that dread in my neighbors - I was the only one who *knew* it wouldn't hit us like they said!

Scary though. Don't let the massive "dooooooom" on tv get to you, stay safe my friend!!!

Yeah I've lived here in hurricane alley for a long time and usually I'm cool, calm and collected, but this seems dif. for some reason. I've been thinking about hurricane Frederic from 1979 (my first "real" hurricane) and the track was similar to Isaac. Frederic taught me about stress, what screaming banshees sound like, and how you can lose all the buildings and trees around you without knowing it. I have no fear of anything man could do but youre helpless against nature. And I'm not in a position to leave. Dont worry about me though, I'm busy tying down everything and thinking of plan 'b's. If Isaac would go in at the Fla. line or further east, things will be good. If it goes to New Orleans or anywhere east of N.O., I'm screwed. Oh, and hurricane parties are for the ignorant. :crazytongue:

After surviving Hurricane Charley with friends in Port Charlotte where it was a true disaster any signs of a hurricane coming my way gives me a bit of worry. Much luckier now married to a fabulous man and living in Fort Myers who has everything under control :-) makes it much easier! ( Might have been neighbors Amy?) Wishing all in the path of Issac good luck and stay prepared and safe!

 freedms - wouldn't that be a trip???

We left Fort Myers in July of 1993 - we lived in a duplex on a dead end street, with an elementary school {private I think} at the cul de sac - right off the 41. We were there less than 2 years, and I don't remember much. :crazytongue:

Uhoh. You sound like I did back in '91 {92?} your gut KNOWS. Now I AM worried!!!

I hope you check in with us and let us know if you have to evac, so we won't worry!

OK...Track has moved further west...Happy for me, but still got a good bit to worry about.. These things change direction on a whim. I'm not concerned about New Orleans so much as I am for the people along the Mississippi coast. They got wiped out during Katrina but N.O. got all the attention. I'm about a mile N. of I-10 so I'm not in mandatory evac zone and dont live in a trailer (I dont think God likes trailers) so I should be OK. If I do run- I mean evac, I should be able to have internet access to let you know whats up. NOT looking forward to all the dead birds and things that get blown in though.

Yeah, living without a foundation to root your home just seems to draw trouble. :nono:

This is all kinds of bad, all around. People, property, livelihoods, and our lifeblood, oil, is in jeopardy.

I remember hearing about New Orleans but not Mississippi until long after - I'm so sick to death of the politicization of everything!!!

That's like the tornado swarm last April {last year?} where one area was hit *really* bad, but because they weren't the right demographic, and weren't caterwauling for gov't to save them, they didn't make the nightly news. They didn't fit the narrative.

I hope you don't have to evac, and this all sputters out!!!

Have lived in west central FL all my life, and been through many storms, some very bad, so this one is not to bad. We will just hunker down and keep the faith. Just went outside and it's not bad at all, some rain and moderate to heavy winds at times, probably less than 70 mph.

I never understood how bad a hurricane could be until it hit where I lived in Port Charlotte, FL. It wasn't supposed to head that way but it did and the descruction was so sad I actually cried. Places where I went fishing with my dad were gone. The dunkin donuts we used to go to before fishing...nothing left but the sign hanging eerily by itself. And just the view while driving through the area....people spray painted their house number on the one wall of their house that was left, houses leveled to the ground. I hope this storm ends up being just a lot of rain and clouds for anyone in it's path.

I live way to the North, so no hurricane here. But we do get tornados and blizzards which are very scary too. My prayers are with all of you too.

Yeah as bad as it sounds, I'd rather deal w/ the hurricanes because we get so much warning that they are coming. My mother is a tornado survivor and 18 years later, she still totally freaks out when warnings are issued. As far as Isaac goes, it seems that it is going far enough west of us to where I only have to worry about an expected 15 inches of rain, so now its gonna be similar to one of our bad summertime thunderstorms. The last time we got 15 inches of rain (per my rain gauge that I won from Orbitz) back in June, it took about 72 hrs. I'm about 12-15 miles north of Dauphin Island Al. just n. of I-10, so no mandatory evac for me. We're really happy we dont have to go, but we expect to lose power due to wind blowing power lines together and popping fuses. Good Luck to everyone that has to endure Isaac.

THE STORM HAS BEEN STORMING ALL NIGHT I HATE TO THINK OF WHAT WE HAVE TO FACE IN THE MORNING I AM IN LOUISIANA

Good luck Chew. Gonna be a long day for you but at least its daylight now. As for me in Mobile, things are equal to long duration thunderstorm. Only lost power a couple of times, no damage, leaks or trees down, but southern part of county still catching bad effects.
