How do I know this is for real? This contest ended in Jan or Feb and I just got a letter now. My records show that I did enter it. They didn't ask for money, just for me to fill out an affidavit. They said I have to put my social security number on it for tax purposes. The sweep was run by Dollar General and Unilever, which are both big companies. The letter comes from Don Jagoda Associates. My internet searches make me think this might be for real. But I'm afraid to get excited just in case this is a scam. I've never won a big prize before. What do you all think?

Thank you all so much for your replies. I decided to go for it. I think my credit card company is going to be happy to be paid off . . . well, after that new pair of shoes, of course :)

It sounds Legit. Sweepstakes companies are required to report prizes over $600 to the IRS. That's why they are asking for your ss #. They will also send you a 1099 form. Congratulations!

Sounds legit!!! I won a $5k cash late last year and had to complete an affi with my social and other info on it. i think it also came from the companies legal firm/dept - so that might be the sender of yours!!! Congrats!!!!

Did a google search on Don J. and they are a legitimate company that do the legal work for large company sweeps. Congratulations.

ITS real!!!! I would jump on it and how. Dollar General = Good company. Your records show you entered+ Don Jagoda is a Big prize distributing company. I feel 99% good about this.

CONGRATULATIONS on your win! I know it seems like the sweeps was way too long ago, but it usually does take months for most sweeps to award prizes. Sometimes you are notified weeks before you ever see it. :)

This ounds legit. I would take a chance, and make copies of all that you do. Congrats! I hope that g-d lets me win too.
