Hi, I need a little advice
I received a Fed Ex with a letter from Merry Maids stating congratulations from Merry Maids & Womans Day magazine. Enclosed was a Merry Maids gift card for $3500 I checked the card balance and it had the $3500. A few days later I was in the hospital for a week, when I arrived home there was a curt email from Woman's Day magazine saying that there was mix up, I had won another sweepstakes for $100 slimming solutions gift card and to return the gift card. I checked the balance on the gift card and it was zero, so they emptied the card. I was so excited about this win and it turns out that it was a mistake. Can they do this? Take back a prize? Has something like this ever happened to anyone? I would appreciate any advice. Thankyou
 
Unfortunately, they can do whatever they want ... when they determine there has been a mistake. :cry: (you should have gotten the house cleaned REAL quick! :laughing: )
 
:cry: So sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, they can do that but I am bit surprised that they didn't give you a better prize to make up for their mistake. If you never received an affy to sign before getting that large of a prize it should have been a clue that something was wrong. They can't give out a prize that size without having your tax information. Best of luck to you in getting a great prize soon.

That's my thought - did you get an affy?
 
I won $500.00 from Verizon a few months ago and then after I sent it in certified mail they sent me a letter stating that I wasnt in the Verizon area altho nothing in the rules stated this. so I never got the 500 dollars but we do have Verizon phone service. However just for that I hang up on them immediately when they try to sell me Verizon Fios.
