Sweepstakes Convention - Roommate needed

I need the following and live in Los Angeles area to the southeast.

Respite care for mother from August 26th through September 1 and the house is a pig sty,

Getting to and from the airport and any amusement parks. I have a wheelchair I will bring.

  :whistle:ROOMMATE. I booked a room at the Marriot. It would cost $300 a person but for me to get a room at Days Inn would cost $300 for two but I would have to pay exorbitant parking fees and rent a car. I would arrive on the 27th thus letting the other person to check in when they want. No smoking hotel and all I want is to sleep soundly. I really want to stay in this 4-star hotel but cannot if I do not have a room mate.

Airfare from LAX to SAT. I like Delta but will take anything and preferably arriving before 2 pm on the 27th of August. If I have money like thousand then I would stay 3 more days, sigh. I have the wheelchair and travel light in theory.

Cheap gluten, soy and egg free dining.

I need to discuss with people this as write no I am at a point of being overwhelmed, crying tired, tummy was upset from my cooking, and the heat wore me out. This is the first time I have wanted something this bad. I am not looking for hand outs but advice and a roomie. I do not want one but that is my only option.

hugs

I am back, really, I am back.
hugs,
thanks for the memories.

Re: Sweepstakes Convention - HELP- Roomie and advice needed

I'd go for a cheaper room and have more privacy. You don't go to a different city to stay in the room, so all you need to do there is shower and sleep. I've never paid more than $50 a night to stay anywhere, but that's just me.

You mention a wheelchair, but what do you need it for if mother's not coming? I admit I don't understand a lot of your post.

Churchy, I don't understand either? are u just looking for room mate? or someone to help wheel you around too? Let us know so we can & help ya out

Re: Sweepstakes Convention - HELP- Roomie and advice needed

I do not need anyone to push me in the wheelchair. :nono: I would be fine on my own. I have celiac and food allergies, arthritis, bad knees, disintergrating disc in back, and morbid obesity. Thus I would use the chair to transport luggage then for when walking long distances. Push for a while then set for a while.

If I stay in the cheap motel then I would need need transportation to the convention. That would mean a lot of money and the parking fees. Gas, parking and a car could go $250 as the convention has all day parking for $25 I think. Also it will still be around the high 80's or even over 90 degrees so I rather stay in the fancy hotel then walk through the shopping center to the alamo.

I rather stay at the fancy hotel as this is my vacation to get away from the cruel harsh world. To take a hot bath and wash my hair in peace. That hotel is next to the Alamo and a major shopping mall. I would have cheap food there and be near river walk. It would be a dream vacaton. Normally I would go for the cheap hotel and did that on the last three vacations. I am a cheapskate. The problem is that the cheap hotel is so far out of town, conventions usually are at hours that public transit dont run, and I really rather be close to my room in case i get a food reaction.

WHAT I NEED

A roommate to pay $300 for the stay. I have reservations for both but really want the luxury as this is my get away, respite from over 2 years of food related problems and caring for mother.

Advice on any cheap restaurants in the area that serve some gluten free foods, no pizzas or italian. I love mexican food.

Cheap airfare. Not asking for a gift but starting July 3rd I could buy tickets and would want the cheapest. Amtrack would put me diagonally across the street from the hotel. It would be over night on the train but that is out as it only arrives in San Antonio at 11 pm on Monday, Thursday which would mean missing one day of convention or being way early.

Prayers and travel mercies.

Respite care for mother, I am stuck on this one as the house is not up to code and very dirty by many people's standards.

Thanks for your input and hugs. I hope Ken is there. sigh.

Pack light, and put your stuff into a wheelie bag, ending the need for a wheelchair. Who needs another big thing to schlep onto a plane?

A cheaper hotel and a $5 taxi fare each way to the convention will do you. It's not worth it paying triple just to look at a fancy lobby with polished brass. Expect to be hot and uncomfortable no matter where you are. This is Texas in the summer. Temps go well into the 90s with humidity.

Chinese buffets have wheat free foods, and the variety will do ya.

Orange County social services will probably help you out with a respite caregiver for mom.

That's the advice I can give you, using my own frame of reference.

PLAN C

I have problems with mother. She fears new things and has to have everything worked out. I found a company which would do our airfare would be about $600 together and they are a small airport company so no wands and security and stuff. I would have to get her california ID. The room is $600 so I need to come up in 2 pay check with $1200. If I could find a credit card then I could extend the stay 2 days and see Sea World with her or maybe Fiesta Texas but think Sea World would be better. I really need about $3000 to pull this off and am hoping to find a credit card. The stimulous thing we are not eligible probably adn even if so it was mailed in last week.

I will not be taking the spare wheelchair. This will be a long uphill battle and in the end I may just have to give up and stay home. Or leave mom with two commodes and lots of frozen dinners. I hope she cooperates. I love her so much and have hid away from her for too long and really do love her and enjoy trips with her.

I need to listen to God and talk to him More. I see no hope but pray that it will work out. I was happiest in sweepstaking and never stopped just a few each month.

Mainly I will need some great cheap restaurants and things for mom to do. I am thinking of doing the Alamo. I could maybe carpool to Sea World the first day of the convention and get back around 4 pm. She would be in the hotel so I could run up and see her.

Just shoot me and end it all, lol.

Re: Sweepstakes Convention - Mom is my roomie, eek

I editted the last post and think there is not much any sweepers can do for me. I probably can find the restaurants and not sure about transportation around san antonio or financing yet. Thanks for the advice and putting up with me as I took another spin around in circles.

NEW PLANS

I will be flying out of LAX area on the 27th and checking in on the 27th. I leave on the 30th. I will take the wheelchair so as to help me get around the mall.

I need a very cheap airfare, no plane changes and preferably nonstop.
I need a roommate to pay $300 for half of the room cost.

Tracey from the restaurant will watch mom except Saturday and Sunday.

I found lots of great things there and now am thinking that with so many eateries and a bakery that I might skip the convention and eat the four days away.

Big hugs and thanks for the link. Wow a bakery with pavlova that is gluten free. I will be in heaven dreaming of food again. groans, why cant we have this out here, sigh.
