Have not entered my sweeps for a couple of days. The internet service was down. Anyway tried to enter Verdantmag.com Only to learn that the sweeps is down due to cheeters entering multiple times and more underhanded tricks. How shocking is this! SA is a great site. Most of us can enter all the sweeps you want for free. Sweepstakes is one of my hobbies and to run across these low and dirty rotten members is not a very nice situation. A lot of members are posting that they can't win. Well, we know why. I hope this is not the normal. Just a one off. If other companys Learn of these cheaters Sweepstakes could be gone for everyone. They did mention that they are trying to stop these people. Maybe that's why some sweeps won't let you enter from some states. Anyway to the real sweepstakers, hope you all win.

cheaters stink. :smt019 But its gunna happen. I dont know why people cheat. or how they have the time too. Its hard enough and really time consuming just entering myself. I dont see how they do it. Maybe they could only have one entry per isp or something. that would help. It wouldnt stop it. I dont want anything I have to cheat to get. But honest people do win. I think more than the cheaters do. At least I hope so. I entered a book sweep this morning that said one entry. dont entry yourself and then your husband and also your work address yes, we know who you are. or something like that. so, so sponsers are really trying to stop cheaters.

Also, not much difference in cheating and people who enter sweeps (especially instant wins) using relatives names and different email addresses.
This is almost ALWAYS against the official rules of the sweepstakes but people over in the "wins" section bragging about winning 2 of things.....

I know it's awful. I'm glad that a lot more sites are making people enter an image code...et...I have won several instant wins and so has my sister. Nothing really grand, but fun all the same. My sister however, won a meet and greet with a rock band (Good Charlotte) and took my teenage daughter. That was a pretty big prize!
I do not believe in those generated address fillers. My sister and I just have fun and when we have the time we enter as many as we can. But to enter them all one by one, the RIGHT way, it would take me half a day or at least 3-4 hours. We just enter the ones we really want to win.
I am so glad I have found this site! It is so great! Some days I just do the instant wins and some days I'll look through the others and see what's out there! Good luck to everyone!

Some sites allow unlimited entries. It is common to find few or no rules for smaller sites. There are people who will send in thousands of entries just to get a $50 quilting gift certificate.
Cheating is cheating but technically it is not cheating. It is using a loophole or flaw in the system to get better odds. A small site my use their email to receive entries. The email box is flooded, servers can crash, and then the worst part is that their legitimate customers cannot do business with the site. Most sweepstakes sites have a do not post type of list of sites to not list in their data base.
It is best to live our own lives and hope the abusers of systems will not make things so hard that us regular average people are hindered. Look at Eprizes number code you have to enter as example of a hinderance caused by people abusing the system

Verification codes were instituted to prevent cheating, after numerous sweepers heard of people cheating and complained. I too was sickened by the greedy behavior I saw, but in my mind, those who complained weren't that much better - see, we as sweepers are responsible for what we do, and the sponsors are responsible for policing their sweeps.
Letting other members know what the rules are for a given sweeps is fine - but it is ultimately up to them what they do with the info. If anyone reading this thinks I am condoning breaking rules, I most definitely am NOT! I just know I can't control what others may do.
If a sponsor doesn't want multiple entries from the same household, they state it in their rules. As the primary sweeper in our house, I make sure that only 1 of us enter sweeps that are 1 per HH. And if 1 of us wins an IW and they limit prizes to 1 per HH, I delete the bookmarks so they don't re-enter and DQ us.
Until and unless sponsors enforce their own rules, we as sweepers must continue to enter within those rules and hope for the best. :smt004

I agree that is up to the sponsors to enforce the rules. It just seems like alot of them dont. Take the quacker oats instant for example. anyone who looked at that winners list new right away that it had alot of cheaters. They couldnt see that? I believe they did after people complained about the list but they should have noticed. it was soooo obvious. It really bothers me to see a list with varittions of say, jane doe middle america fifteen times. like jan doe midle america, jana doe middl america. hello. Its the same person. I saw a winners list one time,cant remember the sweep, where one of the winners names was Iluvchik fila. Im not kidding. :smt003 But amy is right. We can only make sure we follow the rules and hope for the best. I win without cheating so I know the cheaters arent winning everything. I would never complain to a sweeps sponsor. I don't see much point in that. I think it would just make the sponsor(s) think twice about having sweeps at all if people complain about stuff.
However, I DID cut & paste the rules to a particular sweeps to another member who had violated the rules of a certain sweeps by using 2 email addy's to win more than 1 instant win prize.
I probably wasted my time, but being fairly new to this I was kind of shocked to see someone had either NOT read the rules OR had purposely broken the rules to win more than 1 prize.
I won't be "pointing" out anymore rules to folks on here anymore because now I think it just made me look like a complete idiot for saying anything.
We all are adults and I would hope know the difference between right and wrong. We all make our own choices as to which side of that fence we want to be on.
Amy is right. I can only control what side of the fence I am on, so what point would there be for me to "point" out the rules to someone. They can read them for themself, if they care what side of the right/wrong fence they are on.

No matter where you do your sweeping, unfortunately you will eventually discover that some sweepers are dishonest. Most people play by the rules, and those that don't cheat us all. As you and Amy have said, you have to do what's right for you and not worry about the questionable ethics of others. SA certainly does not support or encourage cheating, but we can't regulate it either. Please don't be discouraged. Hope we see you in the Winners Circle soon celebrating your fantastic, honest, win. I'm ashamed to say that when I first started entering contest I did enter the same thing under both my emails. BUT,,,,,,,,,that was before I listened to everyone here and actually read the rules. Now I do it fair and square. I figure the Sweeps Gods will bring the cheaters bad karma and they will win a stinky goat or something. Let'em cheat, we will just keep on keeping on and we will win anyway.
