Sweeps Marketing Policies

I have a concern and wonder if any one else feels or questions the same?

This is a sample of some rules - If you enter/win, we can use your name, likeness, photograph, voice, opinions, biographical information, testimonials, statements, hometown and state in any media,
worldwide in perpetuity to reproduce, publish, use, edit, adapt and/or modify such entry information, in any way, in any and all media, without limitation and without compensation to Entrant.

I even read one that said this or any other planet!

I know it my choice to enter a sweepstakes, and I don't care about further compensation - but doesn't this seem intrusive and a little scary when you have to worry about being hacked, and possibly have
been, that some company can actually provide all your private information and picture forever?

Your opinions appreciated.

Thank you,

venice - because of litigious people who sue at the drop of a hat, you'll find this [boilerplate] verbiage in most [all?] sweeps rules, so they can CYA

Hi Amy,

I didn't think of it as protection from people who want to sue for any reason, and a company certainly has to protect themselves. I read it as they have the right to publish information about you to promote their product (otherwise why enter their sweepstakes), but why every bit of personal information on all media until the end of time?

If you have to submit this information to claim your prize and the company publishes your full name, city, state, picture, biographical information (is that your age?), on to FB, Twitter, their own website, etc- how easy is it then for someone to steal your identity? That is my question and concern.

Thank you,

venice - while yes, they can publish your info when you agree to their rules & privacy policy, they rarely ever do so.
