Sweeping with Dial-Up internet

Unfortunately, I can not get high speed internet in my area and am forced to sweep with Dial-Up. To get around this problem I sweep when watching TV. During the commercial breaks I do my daily sweeps. I place the laptop at my side , open my saved daily contests folder click on 4, wait for them to load, next break fill them out and send , then repeat until I finish the list. Of course, this means that I can only enter Daily contests that I really want to win.

What tips and tricks do you fellow sweepers on dial up use? Do you know of good ISP's that offer accelerators? I used to have a good one that would reduce the quality of pictures to B&W, but the upgrade changed it. Do you know of any good accelerator software? I know that allowing room in your IE cache allows for saved images to load faster, I do get good speed on Dailies. If a new contest takes ages to load, I skip it.

I could never go back to dial-up even if that meant going to satellite. Back then, I could only do 150 daily's. I hope that you're at least using Roboform.

Yes I do use Roboform. Another trick that I do is to exercise and sweep at the same time. For example, I'll open up a couple of dailies, then go do 5 minutes on the elliptical machine in my den. Then fill and send, open up a few more and repeat. In one hour I enter all my dailies and get my 30 minutes a day of exercise. It's a win win situation...pun intended.

Great ideas.
I am so impatient I don't think
I could sweep with dial up.

I only had dial up for a few weeks, so I never tried sweeping with it, but I found this thread at G4 {where I spent my 1st 1 1/2 online} and I trust Pete

Most internet accellerators work by taking a web page you are about to visit, downloading it to a proxy server, stripping out ads and photos and replacing them with links to ads already cached on your computer ahead of time and lower quality versions of the photos ; this allows you to "browse" the internet faster since these low resolution pages load faster than if you had to wait for the original ads and original photos to download and load. Then if you want the photo full resolution there is generally an option to do so.
But this can't help you with things like videos , music or downloads since there is nothing which can really be stripped out of these.

Download managers are another story. For the most part they are designed to do a couple of things. First, and most important is that they allow you to resume an unfinished download if it gets interrupted (the connection is dropped) and generally it does this by requesting the download be broken up into segments and verifying each independently. (This is similar to how bit torrent works on broadband ). This also allows for a faster download from a source which has slow uploads in that it can download two or more parts of the file simultaneously. But generally these days all major servers will be uploading at a far faster speed than you can download with dialup 56Kbps.

My personal preference for Internet Explorer is MetaProducts Download Express (free version) http://www.metaproducts.com/mp/mpProducts_Detail.asp?id=18

For firefox, the downthemall extension

Thanks, the first one sounds perfect as I don't care about video and downloads, just basic browsing, email, and sweeping. I really hate websites that load a lot of animations, ads, etc. voxpop.tv, Hollywoodpreviews.com, and HDroom.com, and all Disney sites are really bad for me, so I skip their contests. I love the ones that just show you the simple sign up form, those load in seconds.
