Strange Phone Call

I was called today from a sweepstakes that ends in a few days they said they just wanted to verify my phone number and they do that with some of the applications. Then the guy said he would be the one who calls on Monday and good luck.
He told me what sweepstakes it is and all about the sweep stake I didn't remember entering.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I did get a call a few weeks ago saying I entered to win an iPad and they were verifying information...they had my name, phone number, email...but asked if I had a Visa or Master card, and asked if I had a checking account! I told them it was personal information and they said the sponsor needed to know so I hung up.
 
:sunny: A few times over the years I have been called to verify my entry. Then some will see if you are interested in their products. I have never won from anyone calling to verify my entry before the drawing.
 
thank you this was from Sweetwater and had never had anything like this. I have been entering contests for years and never had a marketing person for a company call me before it ended. Come to think of it I have never called on a sweep stake win.
 
I received a call from Marlboro sweepstakes sweepstakes, asking about how I felt about the sweepstakes, my tobacco use and which ones I preferred, how I felt about prizes, ease of the website, etc, so I answered all the questions, but none of a personal information.
