Silly Question? How do these companies pick a winner?

Maybe someone can answer this, I'm just curious. When people fill out an online form for a sweepstakes, how do they pick the winner? In other words, do they collect all the forms in a program and let the computer randomely pick or do they print out all the forms and then pick a winner? Again, just curious.

:sunny: There really is no silly question regarding sweeps, especially if you are new to sweeping. Must of the official rules will tell you how the winners are picked. Most companies now use a computer generated random pick.
 
I always wondered how they picked a winner when you can enter by mail or online. Does someone enter the mailed in entries on the computer? How do they mange to make it fair for both types of entry?
