Thanks Ken but even though I would try to adjust brightness it doesn't matter when it comes to poor vision. I can manage but thought I would mention it.

I have to agree with you, and I don't wear glasses. I was just comparing SA side-by-side with another forum, and SA comes across hazy and not quite sharp whereas the other site was very sharp and clear and easy on the eyes.

...and, once again, I have to second the pea green color. It gives me seizures! Lighter to medium shades of blue have a very calming effect.

We'll have a poll about the colors and we'll go from there.

Thanks,

-Ken

I didn't mean to start a storm on you Ken. I'll help make the images for the new colors once you hold a vote. The good news is when you upgrade to the full release all the new colors and images will still work like they did with 1.8, you don't have to change any coding.

I'm visually impaired too, and ensuring that there is adequate contrast between the page background
and foreground is imperative...Turing the brightness down is just going to make things worse . If you want 80 million links on accessable web site design? :crazytongue:

To fix the contrast problem on the users end...

This can be helpful

But you really have to mess around with the color schemes to find one that works for you because each person's visual impairment is different. I use zoom a LOT. And the high contrast black and white setting.

thanks for the info. I need to do some color mockups and then we'll have a vote on it.

I tried the contrast and that didn't help :) I'm pretty sure one way or another Ken will come up with something.

I didn't mean to open up a can of worms!

I think the major problem with me is the 'tonal' difference between the grey and green. They are just too close. If the grey was a couple of shades lighter there would be no problem. I can live with the green, but even if we changed to a blue/grey format (or whatever) the problem would still be there if the two tones remain so close.

So ... if we decide to have a "color" vote: somebody drop me a PM. I will probably miss seeing that there is a new topic the way it is now.

:crazytongue: Loren

OK, made some changes this morning. I removed the alternating colors in the posts and also changed the menu to add some contrast. Seemed like most of the comments indicated not enough contrast. Let me know if your eyes are still bleeding!

 no bleeding eyes here but I really only have a problem with the icons that are posted in this thread.
The ones 3mnkids1 posted. I just have a harder time telling when there is a new post or not because the green and grey are so similar.

I thought that since white is the background color now the icons colors are easier to differentiate. Is this still not the case?

When I posted this the color hadn't changed but now since it is a white background yes it has helped. Thank you.
