SA Members - Stop the New Food Tax

Thank you. This seemed like a real no-brainer. Now soda/food tax, what is next air?? :crazytongue:

I signed for my husband and me. Long Island has already been pushed over the limits, and they want to add a fat tax on top of it all! :cussing: :cussing: :nono:

There are only like 14K signed petitions, I was hoping our SA membership can bump this up. We have to let congress know that this is not the time to create new taxes. New jobs we need.

Please visit the site below and send a strong message to Congress to stop this new Food/Soda tax. Very short petition ( takes 1 minute ). You'll thank me later..

Didn't this administration promise no new taxes for the middle class? This is just another way to squeeze money out of everyone. Thanks for the link.

:laughing: I have to laugh because if I don't it's enough to make you cry with all those new taxes that may be coming our way. Let alone talk of another stimulus. I know they inherited all this from the previous administration. At some point this new management will have to be accountable for it's actions.

Received an email from my Senator today regarding this new tax. We'll have to monitor what his stance is... :meninblack:

====================================================

Dear Mr. Carlos:

Thank you for contacting me regarding tax proposals to fund health care reform. I understand your concerns.

I believe we must carefully consider the full impact of health care-related tax provisions before changes to the nation’s health care system are enacted. As a member of the Senate Finance Committee, which has jurisdiction over the tax code and most Federal health programs, I will be sharing these concerns with my colleagues as the health care reform effort moves forward.

I am glad that you took the time to send me your thoughts. Be assured that I will keep your views in mind as this matter moves through Congress.

Sincerely,
Senator Bill Nelson

P.S. From time to time, I compile electronic news briefs highlighting key issues and hot topics of particular importance to Floridians. If you'd like to receive these e-briefs, visit my Web site and sign up for them at http://billnelson.senate.gov/news/ebriefs.cfm
