ReadTheDamnBill

I know they never read the darn bills but it's time they do. We voted them in so let's put the pressure on. This healthcare bill is just too important to screw it up for all of us.

Cash for clunkers is another joke IMO.If you can't afford a new vehicle why would you want to put yourself in debt. Sounds like the mortgage thing all over.

It'll never happen. They have piles and piles of pending legislation most of which are 1,000+ pages. They probably wouldn't have time to sleep if they tried to read it all themselves. So, that's why they have hired gophers to do it for them.

I think it's equally bad when people decide whether legislation is good or bad (it's almost always bad anyway) without reading a single paragraph of it. All someone has to tell them is that it's good, and they believe it.

:laughing:I just had this vision of harried little ground squirrels busy reading mounds of text.
Poor things, Peta should do something about that! End govenment Gopher abuse now!
Yeah, who that drives a car that qualifies can afford a new car? We'll just keep driving the van, the back door only falls off once in a while...:crazytongue:

 maybe you can afford the new van. You probably really do need it.

Well they better start reading the bills. I need for them to know what we are going to be giving our hard earned tax dollars to.

They know what's in the bills. Their pockets are well-lined by corporate America to care what we want or think. They've been bought and paid for by the highest bidder! :nono:

Well I still signed and I still intend to call them and voice my opinion. So far as an American I have that freedom. :)

I just submitted my petition. The thing that gets me the most is that some of these senators are so brazen to say things like "We are pushing this bill through". No Bill should be signed without everyone knowing the effects and having a chance to argue any opposition.

But then again we have a president that would call a police officer "stupid" without even knowing the facts too.

Lead by example I guess.....

:headbang: I am with you 100%. We don't need to rush any of this through. This is about our children and our grandchildren. Look what happened when we rushed the stimulus bill through. No change in the White House. You can't rush this health reform but have you noticed it's now being called insurance reform.

Good thing those blue dog democrats are standing firm. I saw that speech the other night and I knew immediately when he said they acted stupidly he just put his foot in his mouth. Perhaps it was an attempt to distract everyone while they try and rush the insurance reform. Well at least it's not happening before August break.

Let Freedom Ring sent a pledge to the 500+ members of Congress to sign stating they would read the bill in full before voting and would also release a copy of the bill to the public 72 hours before the voting. A copy of the pledge is on this site and also the current list of Congress members who have signed it. Interesting...

This is an interesting topic! :)

Opponents of ObamaCare argue that this five-page section of a 1,000-page bill is actually an attempt to pressure senior citizens into opting out of expensive live-saving therapy.

It brings to mind Boomsday, a 2007 satirical novel by ForbesLife editor at large Christopher Buckley, in which the government solves its fiscal problems by offering tax breaks to those who kill themselves before retirement age.

The idea that we don't provide adequate care for the elderly is appalling. No offense but I'm no spring chicken so what does that mean to me in 20 years and I need more medical attention than I do now.

The other day I was watching debates on health-care reform and when the topic of the elderly came up I thought about Soylent Green. If you know the movie you might know why this came up for me. Let's hope it never comes to this.

Thank goodness it's not going to be done before their break.
