Question re: email address change

Hello my fellow sweepers!

I have been sweeping for a few months now and really love it. I started out using my personal e-mail address and recently decided to open a new e-mail account just for me sweeps. I love that all the junk mail goes to my new e-mail instead of cluttering up my regular email box.

Now only use my new email when entering *new* sweeps. I realize that to continue to be eligible for my previously entered daily sweeps I need to use my old email address. When I created my new email address about a month to two months ago I started using it to enter new sweeps. Now I haven't been able to win a thing using my new email address. My question is, are some email addresses luckier than others? I seemed to win so much more with my old email address. Maybe I am just going through my first slow patch, but it just seems odd that it happened when I changed email addresses.

Thanks for listeneing! :blob:

There are no email addresses luckier than others, but you may want to checks the rules on the sweepstakes you are entering. There are some that won't accept entries using certain emails like gmail, aol, etc.

Oh really? I didn't know that! I opened up a gmail account. Has anyone else had trouble entering contests with a gmail account?

There's not that many sweepstakes that prohibit entries from certain emails, but you might want to check the restrictions in the rules just to be on the safe side. I know quite a few people use gmail accounts.

I use gmail now. Usually if a site doesn't allow "generic" email accounts they let you know as you try to submit the form. I have only raninto 3 of those in the last year. And it is usually just on freebie sites.

Don't fret it.

KEEP SWEEPING ... and winnin' !!

It took me awhile to transition to my gmail acct - because I had logins at many sites with my old acct. What I did was keep canceling any email subscriptions that came to the old one and updating the login if needed. Eventually my old email only got spam, so I knew it was done.

I win plenty with my gmail acct and have never had an issue where I couldn't enter (so far). Be sure to regularly check and delete you spam folder - including telling gmail that legitimate mail isn't spam (so future mail from the same address, including win notifications, come to your regular inbox). Recently I won a blu-ray player and the email came to spam, but I always check carefully before permanently deleting, so I rescued the winning email!

Good luck - and remember that dry spells are just a part of the whole contest experience, so don't despair.

I also switched email accts in July & have noticed a significant decrease in winnings since then. I can't explain it, maybe it's coincidental & more people are sweeping now. I'm not doing anything any differently. I'm afraid to go back to my RR email because alot of sweepstake emails are kicked back to RR thinking they're spam. If you figure it out let me know!

I switched to gmail a while back and I like it. I havent been getting as many wins but dont think it has anything to do with my email.. Just going through a dry spell.. a really, really bad dry spell.
