question about memory and robo form

Hi, First let me say please make answers very simple. I am very tech uneducated. and know little to nothing about computers and all the things they do. I have not had any trouble and have been using roboform for some time, now when I go through clicking on all my contest I want to enter, putting them on individual pages, After I have used the computer for about 30 minutes the new pages will say connecting but never connect, and if I go to that page it has a little square that says robo form outof memory, I only open 6 or 7 pages at a time, and close the old ones before opening new ones. I click on 6 0r 7 entries on the SA page, giving each of them their own page. I hope you can figure out what I am saying. Anyways if I restart the computer it will be fine and I will be able to open 6 or 7 pages and enter for about another 30 mins. Then it will do the out of memory thing. Any ideas what is wrong and how to fix it. Is it something with the roboform or my computer. Any advice greatly appreciated

Can you post more info; system specs (XP or 98... & if you have antivirus, firewall, etc...) problem & when it started (after a d/l, clicked on a link, visited a webpage, etc....) & what you have already tried to correct the problem.

It sounds like your memory is either set too low, or "leaking" - it's been awhile since I've read up on this, so it may take me awhile

I will try to answer your questions, but I am not teasing I really know next to nothing about computers. I have windows XP, AVG antivirus and spy ware, It started one night when I was entering contest(instant wins) That I had entered several times before. I also had installed a new printer HP Deskjet D1420 earlier in the day., I took several of the things the printer put in the computer off, used add remove programs, thinking maybe it used to much memory, I have taken enough stuff off that I know I took more mg off than the printer added. I removed several things we never used to free memory, games ect. The confusing thing is that when I go to the page that is trying to load it says Robo form in the top of the little square then no memory in the square, like Robo form is out of memory not the computer. But I don't know, and that it runs great for so long, then does this and restart and it will work fine again for awhile. Hope I gave you enough info, I REALLY appreciate any help as I am so lost.

if you hit ctrl , alt and delete at the same time that will bring up your task manager only do this once! wait for it to come up and click on the performance tab at the top , when you do that you can see how much memory is being used in your page file history, your usage is in a black box with a green bar measure which tells you what you are using, if it is to close to your physical memory(k) then your computer is using more than what it can handle, if the difference is about half or less then it has enough reserve. example pf usage= 312 mb physical memory (k) = 656832 you are ok

ok I got the following, cpu usage 5-7%, PF usage 400mg
Physical Momory Total 1302000 Available 760812 System Cache 915804
So what do you think?

you have well over a gig of memory on your system and you are using 400 mb so you look good there , so you must have something on robo-form that is not able to keep up!

Any idea how to fix that or do I just have to loose the robo form. Kind of wierd I have had it this long and now it acts up.Thank you so much for all your help

unless you need to update the robo-form, it might be missing something it needs to run with in one of the updates they have had?

unless you know for sure what day or around what day you started having problems , you could do a system restore but you would lose any info from that date forward and would have to update spyware and virus info when you do a system restore?

Could you tell me how to do a systems restore, I know how to update spyware and virus stuff after I do it, and I havent put any thing that I would worry about losing since it has been messing up. It has been about 1 and one half weeks .

click on star on the bottom left corner of your screen then roll your mouse over the programs tab then move to the accessories tab then to sytem tools and under system tools select or click on system restore. check restore my computer to an earlier date and click next, a calender will pop up ,look for a date that is before the time the problem came up and select a day that is in dark blue, those dates have restore points where you can bring your computer back to that date as it was operating then.

Ok I am going to go try this then I have to go to town I will post later and let you know how it went. Thankyou so much for all your time and help. I am so lost at all this, but learning slowly and really love my computer now and all the sweeps and friends I have made.

Ok I am back, I have done some preliminary test and so far everything is working good again. I went back to before I put the new printer on also. I wonder if maybe it had some kind of bug in the program or something. I might try and put it back on in a day or two if everything keeps working then see what happens. I would not think it would have a bug or virus when I purchased it new at Walmart. Who knows though, stranger things have happened. Thank you very much for all your help, I hope it stays working, I will post after I do sweeps late tonight, that is when it has been messing up. I did all my dailys and it did fine. So I hope. Well thanks again you are a

if it does good you might want to create a restore point before you install the printer incase it is the printer software. that way you can go back to todays new settings if something goes wrong. you do it the same way as restore except you will create a new restore point and it will allow you to name it.

OK I will do that. I am not going to do the printer for a day or two. That way I can be sure everything is working good, and if it messes up again then I will know it is the printer. Wonder if Walmart will take it back under these conditions. Hope so, but at least if not it was a very cheap model. I think I will save my pennies and get a real good one.

Well I did all my entries and everything went fine, so I will create a restore point then later put the printer back on and take it from there. thank you very much,. Saved me allot of headache and probably cash as the only way I could have fixed it was to take it somewhere. I would much rather learn how to do the small stuff myself. I love SA only place you can win, grip about something making you mad ,and get your computer fixed. :sunny: :headbang:

Aha - sounds like a conflict! Sometimes, progs (programs) conflict with other soft/hardware because they weren't designed to work together/on the same system. I've had to uninstall progs because of that in the past too. What a PITA!!!

Another thought - this printer - after you installed it, did you check for updated drivers to it? I only mention it because you say it was cheap so I assume it's an older model?

Maybe that would help?

let us know, gl!!! :headbang:

It was cheap, but brought it new, it is not to old model wise, just a cheap model. does nothing but print, and does that so so, I guess I am to cheap for my own good. lol But ya I checked for updates, and there were none. Wish there were, then I could fix it easy. I tried putting it back on today and everything messed up again, so I restored system again, and everything is fine again, so I made another save point for the next time I mess something up. Oh well we cant all be perfect so I will take the job of long way from it  Boy I am full of it tonight, Thank you for all your suggestions and help. It really helps
