Prize offered not what rules stated

I received notification that I won a trip to Lajitis which the rules state airfare from airport nearest my residence to Lajitis, Texas but when fullfillment time came, the prize was only airfare from airport nearest my home to El Paso, which is 350 miles from Lajitis and I had to provide my own transportation to Lajitis!! Has anyone had this problem before?

Have you spoken to the JA about this? Not emailed, but spoke to someone. That's my first line of taking care of it.

Also, read the rules. They might say that transportation is from a MAJOR airport. When we've won, the nearest airport is Washington DC and that's about 60 miles from here.

If they require you to go to the 'nearest' airport and that really is, I would see if they can get you car service. Texas is so spread out but I'd think that something would be closer

Let us know what happens with this. MAF, is 250 miles from Lajitas & most airlines come and go through there. But, there is an airport in Lajitas and Terlingua so that really doesn't make much sense that they're wanting to you travel that far! Must be from some of the people that forget it takes more than a day to drive across Texas! :headbang:
 
:sunny: Most trips state from the nearest major airport. I don't like that as the nearest major airport is 4 to 4 1/2 hours away. You really do need to contact the sponsor.
I am not at all familiar with Lajitas. What activity did you win there?
Sure hope it get it all worked out.
 
Thanks for all your responses. I did talk to the person in charge of administering the prize and even though the rules specifically state roundtrip airfare to Lajitis - no mention of a major airport near Lajitis, she said we would be responsible for our own transportation from El Paso to Lajitis. This just doesn't seem legal that they would state one thing in the rules and there be such a discrepancy in delivery. If the rules were accurate, I would not have entered under those conditions. Very frustrating!
