We should be finding out tomorrow if Jimmie is getting laid off. His company is calling in all of the union stuarts this morning for discussions on the actions that they will implement starting tomorrow. They just told the men that it was 'worse than they thought'. It could mean anything from a few men getting laid off (highly unlikely), one line shutting down (possible), or the whole plant shutting down (possible also).

Just keep us in your thoughts and prayers today and tomorrow! I am trying not to think about all of it to much. Jimmie is already talking about cutting everything including my internet :cry: I think I would go crazy without all of you guys...I told him I can't win without it...trying hard to convince him.

We are luckier than most ~ we have our house paid off and don't owe on anything, so we won't be losing our cars. What worries me is lack of health insurance (I've been having some kidney issues again)! There just aren't any jobs around here to be found right now. I am just sick with worry! Just keep your fingers crossed for us...
 
Absolutely I'll keep you guys in my prayers and if you all don't mind my son-in-law may also be loosing his job but I believe God has a plan and sometimes doors open in other places. God is good.

You know, if he relocated to US Steel in Ontario, you would not have to pay taxes on wins...that is one of the really nice things about Canada!

Haven't heard anything yet...couldn't sleep last night. Finally dosed off this morning playing a game on the computer ~ lol! Then Jimmie gets up and tells me that they might not even say anything today ~ WHAT???? I will be nuts...well, nuttier than I already am anyway...I hope they just go on and tell them what ever it is that is going on. I just can't stand not knowing.

Wellllllll....the bad news first ~ they are laying off 140 and Jimmie is no#80 or so on the list.

The good news ~ they are laying them off a little at a time. We could have until the end of May, but most like will be the end of next month. That gives us a little more time to prepare for what is coming. It also give me and Jimmie time to get on each other's nerves about every little cent that we are spending. It is going to be a short, bumpy ride!
 
Hang in there and you know we will be praying for you guys. Will they rehire the lay offs down the road? I'm sure you are feeling overwhelmed about all of this and I know how it felt when my DH and I both lost our jobs but we made it through and we'll make it through again if we have to.
 
Hang in there Tammy. At least you have some notice so you can prepare and he can start his job search.
 
:sunny: You are so lucky that they gave you notice. Most people I know that have lost their jobs got no notice. Start making that list of things for Jimmie to do while he is off work.
