Phone contact only sweeps

On a previous post I made a comment about 'phone only notifications' as they apply to sweeps. As we know there were several responses which basically said I was nuts. Maybe I am. :crazytongue: :crazytongue: :crazytongue: :crazytongue: :crazytongue:

But, I wanted to share with you an experience that happened to me on the 17th of July.

Maybe some of you remember the "Million Dollar Bottle" sweeps put out by Mendis Brandy? I received an e-mail from them on the 17th stating that the draw had been postponed till the 20th. Cool! Nice to let the entrants know! BUT... they went on to say that the winner's contact would be by phone only.

SOOOO...being Loren, I fired them off an email. And you can read the results here:

My only point here is that WE can make a difference on how some sweeps are run. It worked here!!! :headbang: :headbang:

They didn't call me that Friday, but apparently the winner hasn't responded either...so there is still hope!

So.... maybe I'm not completely nuts! DANG!!! Bummer eh??

Loves,

Loren

I dont think you are nuts. well, not about this anyway :laughing:just kidding. I dont like the phone only thing. I have caller ID and If It says out of area or something I dont answer. They should send a email or notify by mail. I dont think I entered this particular sweep though. Im glad you take the time to do things like this.

Thank you ~ thank you ~ thank you!! I only have dial up so it would almost be impossible for anyone to get me by phone. I have started putting my cellphone on sweeps and I got my first grand prize call that way, but what if I am somewhere that I can't have it on??? Multiple means of communication is almost essential during this day and age!!

Thank again Loren for standing up for all of us!!! Hope you get that call!!

I don't like the phone only thing. I have a muscle weakness, and i can't run to get to the phone.
some of the local radio contests call the winner once , if they don't answer their phone they pick another name. they don't leave messages on answering machines either. If i'm not standing besides my phone waiting and miss the "one time" call, that means I lost? I don't think that's fair. If they pick your name as winner, I think they should have to try at least twice to call you.

I remember the "million dollar bottle" sweeps. they said they would post the winner's name on the website. last time i looked it still wasn't up there. I think by now the winner should have been notified?

It does not hurt to try to educate the operators of sweeps and freebies. A lot of people do not understand the laws involved and how people feel about things. You are not crazy to try.

I think by now the winner should have been notified

In the Bologna page, they stated they would give 15 days for response from the original winner. Sounds pretty fair to me. I'm willing to wait until the 4th.

PS: I call all those "blogs" that. What the dickens is a "blog" anyways??? Tain't never been dun seen in my dictionary! :crazytongue:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog

A blog (a portmanteau of web log) is a website where entries are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting) or sexual in nature (Adult blog), and are part of a wider network of social media.
