Opinion-home or work phone?

I have been doing sweeps steadily for 2 years. I have won a few things but nothing big. I have never been notified of a win by phone or email. Only regular mail or instant win. I always put my home phone down on entries, but I work full-time and if they were to call, they would get my answering machine. I cannot talk freely at work so would prefer not to get calls there and I do not have a cell phone. Do you think it is possible that I've won something and when they called my house and I was not home, they gave the prize to someone else? I have seen a couple sweeps that say if no one answers they do not win. What do you think? Should I change to my work phone since the odds of winning are not good anyway?

You can get a "virtual" phone # that goes to a web-accessible voice mail box. You get an email when someone leaves a message. You can also "forward" the calls to any # you want. I did this when my dad was in hospital in another state. He could only dial a local # from hospital, so I setup one that forwarded to wherever I wanted/out of state. It was less than $10 per month. Good option for what you are interested in, too.

Sorry, don't remember name of service.

ohhh Zan.... don't say that... the odds of winning are just as good as anyone elses. Members here have taught me to be patient and stay postive and that's what i've been doing. We have to remember that this is our "hobby" not our jobs to win prizes.

As far as your number goes, leave it as is. Your home phone is fine... Good Luck on your sweepin' and win something good this month....

I think home phone is fine. the only contest i know of that doesn't pick you if your not home is the local radio stations, at least by me. I know that if they call you and your not home, they pick another person, at least with movie tickets and concerts and such. sometimes certain radio stations will leave messages on my answering machines, others will hang up when they get the answering machine, I know this because their name (the stations) comes up on caller id. so i know it was the radio station that called.
but, a home phone # has always worked fine in the past for me.

Yeah, I should add that I don't use the virtual # for sweeps. It was only for the hospital thingie, but, if you are concerned... certainly an option, though not necessary. I've won enough w/o being home for calls....
