Okay but really, how many of you have never won anything substantial?

I'm entering sweepstakes for the first time in my life, and I've been having fun, but I can't help but think that it's pretty futile. I imagine a lot of people here have won small prizes, like a case of soda or a $10 gift card, but it feels like all the talk of winning big prizes is mostly wishful thinking. Anybody here never really won anything?

It's easy to get overwhelmed, but there are ways to beat the odds!

~ Enter sweepstakes with fewer entrants. Local sweeps, small business FB sweeps, and even small businesses on Instagram. Also, I personally love YouTube sweeps! Small creators still offer great prizes, but have smaller audiences than big sponsors like HGTV or Pepsi. We have a YouTube section for our Plus members.

~ Be consistent! Especially with daily entry sweepstakes or instant-win games!

~ Always check out the rules. If you don't qualify or enter the wrong information, you can't win! Also, check when the sweep ends. Many 'big' sweepstakes are open for months before a winner is selected.

~ Try expiring sweepstakes! With expiring sweepstakes you can get last-minute entries in and find out whether you won in a matter of days/weeks instead of months.

~ Be patient. As I mentioned before, the entry period & winner selection can take a long time. But, lots of smaller wins can add up.

~ Be selective about what you enter to win & make sure it's a prize you could use or would be excited to take home. Like video games? Enter gaming sweepstakes. Like books? Enter book giveaways. Have pets? Enter pet sweepstakes! Being more deliberate about what you enter can make the journey a lot more enjoyable. :)

I've won a vacation to the Phillipines first class, a trip to Philadelphia and Dallas. Apple watches, VR headseats, clothes, ....

Depends what you think is "substantial" ! I've only been entering for about 6mo, but I've won 3 prizes where the ARV is over $500. Over those 6mo I've gotten enough medium wins to where it is fun and useful!

I feel like when I am consistent- I get 1-2 "big wins" a year. I am not always consistent and even consistent for me is 4ish days a week. I am forever chasing a Disney trip win- that's my Golden Goose! I would also love to win a trip. I won a trip to the Macy's Parade on instagram 6 years ago and that is what really got me started in sweeping- but that is my only trip win.... so far!

Thank you very much for this great advice. A fellow sweeper, has been a mentor to me and stated similar tips and more. Thanks. (patience being #1)

I think ANY win is a good win. I am following advice given me and only entering Sweeps where the prizes are things me and my family can enjoy. I wouldn't want to win a grand prize of meeting a Celebrity, for instance, and not knowing who the celebrity was, ruining it for an actual fan. So although I am very new to Sweeps, (1 month), I am careful and picky as to which Sweeps I enter.

How do we find the instant win games?

I won $30,000 cash once. I won a trip to Hawaii and a trip to Las Vegas. I used to win many sweeps, but it seems lately I can’t win a thing. My best win this year was a $500.00 Amazon gift card.

I've entered sweepstakes on and off since around 2005. All of my "big" wins have been trips. Vegas, LA, NYC, Bahamas twice, Miami twice (This yea) Mexico, Jamaica. etc. Here's my advice. Or at least this is what I feel works for me. I don't have a lot of time. So I never enter daily sweeps that offer prizes less than $1000. I know a lot of people will (and have) given me a hard time for this. But dailies are entered by so many people, well, daily. I focus my real energy on one time entries. Those have brought me luck. I can say the trips I've won online have ONLY been one time entries. But....the REAL secret is mail-in entries! There are WAY fewer decent mail-in entries out there than there used to be. But they are there. Sometimes I find them on this site. But many I find searching the internet. Look for entries that require you to purchase a product, take a picture of the receipt and then you must email all that in. Those, of course, must offer an amoe sweepstakes which is typically mailing in a 3X5 card or paper. Or postcard sometimes. THAT is where I've won most of my trips. Think about it. It takes a lot of time to write out the entries and envelopes. Plus it's .60 cents to mail! Going up to .63 cents at the end of next month by the way. So this discourages people from investing these things I've mentioned and they just stick to entering free sweeps. Which has WAY more people entering.
Sorry for the dissertation, I sometimes get like that. Good luck. Remember, "Patience, persistence and postage, the three Ps!"
