Number of Contests

How Many A Day?

How many contests do you generally enter a day (including daily entries)? I'm new to sweeping and trying to make the most of it. I've seen YouTube videos where people say they enter 200-300 contests a day. I don't see how that's possible. Even if I was to enter every contest I'm eligible for, I still couldn't hit that amount. I want to enter as many as possible but I can't seem to find anything that would let me get even close to that amount. I'm currently utilizing two big sweeping sites and three Facebook groups to help keep track of contests.

Welcome to sweeping...I've seen this question asked a few times over the years and the answers vary from people who only enter a few daily to people who enter hundreds. Right now I am entering about 60 (dailys some instants and some not). At most I think I've entered maybe a 100 or so per day...it depends on what prizes I'm focused on winning and how much free time I have.

Those people who enter hundreds of sweeps daily are probably entering for basically everything, plus doing daily blog entries.

For me, I think sweeping is about quality over quantity (entering for prizes you really want, entering sweeps that have better odds).

Good luck!!

Thanks a lot for the input. I do around 30 dailies, but i just started a couple weeks ago so I'm guessing that will get bigger. Plus all the single entry ones every day. I only do the single entry blog entries usually. Are blog entries less desirable or something? I've heard some people say they avoid them all together.

dexterlecter99 - There are laws that govern sweepstakes & contests but they are [seemingly] not consistently followed or enforced when it comes to BLOGS so some [many] of us sweepers avoid them

As to quantity? Most skew towards quality over quantity after sweeping for awhile - at 1st we all [well, mostly all :p ] tend to go hog wild looking for a win - ANY win.

I think the usual sweeping learning curve goes something like this:
Oh boy, LOOK at all these!!! I MUST enter ALL of them and then I WILL win.
For some, it only takes a week for them to get frustrated and start asking "Why can't I win??? I see all these others doing it, what am I doing wrong???" while others plod along and don't reach that point for months.
Since 6 months is the norm, those posting they won after a few days/weeks are actually outliers, who are also more likely to post, but that doesn't change how others react.
The other part of the curve is in how many & how often you enter.
When you start out, ANY win sounds fun, and so we tend to go hog wild - yes, I did it too. :crazytongue:
In time, we learn to prioritize, and that while entering lots of sweeps may increase your chances, it doesn't guarantee them.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. Like I said, I only do the single entry blog sweepstakes right now. I'll certainly not waste my time with the dailies after learning that some of them are dubious.

I actually read that post of yours the other day, it was incredibly helpful. I only enter sweeps I actually want to win or things I know my wife would like. Winning things I have no use for like a baseball bat or baby stuff just seems pointless to me. I'm guessing you've been sweeping for a very long time based on how long you've been a member here. What are some of your biggest wins? Everyone always seems to want a car, but trips always interest me a lot more.

It's been my experience that the Blog Sweeptakes are run by private individuals or a very small one owner business. Many of these people aren't aware that there are State and Federal laws that govern the operation of sweeps. As a result, many of them think they can do whatever they want, including not awarding the prize(s) or other violation of these laws. I tried some when they first started but quickly gave up on 'em.

curmudgeon ty - you reminded me that some [many?] are bloggers who get free products from companies in exchange for a review/PR & they give that "freebie" away which is fine, but it usually ends up being their friends/family members who always win and/or winners report they never got their prize & the bloggers will blame the company/sponsor.

This does NOT mean that *all* BLOGS are suspect, just that it's a good idea to do your due diligence & check out the results of past promos they've run JIC

I think its good to start with a few and then build up to more entries...When I first started entering, I only entered a few and spent time reading sweepstakes sites about how to increase your chances, avoid scams, where to look for sweeps and etc. I also think its good to try out different sweeps and see what you like/what you have the best luck with...I think over the years, I have basically entered every kind of sweeps, lol!

Amy and curmudgeon pointed out some of the reasons people don't enter blog sweeps: I'll add another one...sometimes the blog asks you to do a million things (follow on twitter, fb, pinterest and etc) for just a small prize (like something less than 50 bucks).

When I am going through a dry spell, I like to enter low entry blog sweepstakes...usually they have fewer than 1,000 entries and when I win, it just encourages me to keep entering. Over the years, I've had some good wins from blog sweeps.

I like to keep track of my wins in a word document and in my word document I have a little list of my goal prizes..I use that list to help me stay focused on what I want to enter for and what I want to skip.

I snailed in the 80's when I was stationed in GITMO {Cuba} and I won a few small prizes

I started doing online sweeps in 2004 & it took me 6 months to win $100 on an IW [the vote to help out a sweeper's family]

$10,000 cash in 2010 [after 6 years of daily entering] is my personal online sweeps best

A $4,000 Merry Maids was my 2nd best

I also won $220 Paypal over a 3 month period from the monthly Bizrate.com - Bizrate Daily Cash Giveaway Sweepstakes

And numerous electronics - 6 or 7 ipods, a Blu-ray player, a laptop & lots of USB's & speakers

I lost my records, so I can't recall them all :p
