NOT WINNING ANYTHING? Tips on WHY:

Pay attention while entering - some forms will automatically check off the "Yes, you/3d parties may contact me" and similar boxes.

If this area is not required {usually somewhere on the entry page it will say "All fields marked with an * are required"} then uncheck it.

Also - watch the wording - some will say to uncheck if you DO want them to contact you!

Rule of thumb - check the privacy policy along with the rules.

oh yes ive been doing that too, i carefully look over each one. thats why those roboforms don't work that well for me. i like to actually see them. i use chrome so it has the auto form fill which is fine but i do carefully check only required ones. i always figured id get spam or whatever.

Hi all....I'm dakota37 aka Charity. Anyway, I've been reading and wanted to ask a question. I just recently started on this sweeps kick and in the first week actually won $20 on a game through Publishers Clearing House. So far that's the only win...lol, but I was happy. I faithfully do every instant win games they have, their lotto, their slots, and the entries to win things. I was just curious if anyone else does Publisher's Clearing House. I have not been able to find anything else really, except troppolotto, and Freelotto. So, do any of you do that? Or can anyone point me to better places?

Hi everyone, I'm new here and just posted in another thread. I decided to just copy/paste into a new thread because I had another question. Here is what I wrote in the other thread:

Now, my other question is...is this forum only for certain sweepstakes that you find on Sweepstakes Advantage? I'm new to this (watched a show about 3 weeks ago and became interested) so I kinda need a bit of help, I guess. :)

dakota37 aka Charity - You are free to enter any and all sweepstakes you find, however/wherever you find them, and can post your wins if you wish.

It's preferred that SA'ers share when they discover promos not yet listed at SA:

Latest or New Sweepstakes

PLEASE do due diligence to make sure a promo really isn't already listed before posting though - or if you prefer, you can send me a pm with the links/info and I'll double check it & let an editor know if I don't find it.

Does anybody ever win on Woman'sWorldMag or WomansDay sweeps? I am always entering them but I never saw anybody win something from it. Do they actually really work? I am concerned that I am wasting all my time entering especially the womansworldmag ones and they don't really work. Especially because they only ask for the email address and even when you type the security code in wrong it still says your entry has been recorded. Why the security question then if you can type whatever in it? Is this legit?

I was off to a good start, but this month I have yet to win. I just want to get it off my chest. I will remain positive. Thats all. Thanks.

I have been sweeping since I was 18 and have won many prizes. You have to keep entering, because you never know when you will win that great prize. Like anything, you can win if you don't enter. I do receive prizes in the mail from the judging companies without notice. Lately, but do check you emails daily because they will sometimes send you an email verifying you as the winner and you have a short time to respond or you may forfeit the prize without realizing it.

In a slump?

Ways I deal with the frustration of a dry spell:

1} I get outside of my own head by helping others. Either by voting, answering questions, or just getting a little silly. :crazytongue:

2} I avoid the winners circle. It's not that I'm not happy for other members, it's just that I don't need the constant reminder that I'm not one of them - for now. :crazytongue:

3} I hard charge on sweeps, going through all the categories and getting a sense of satisfaction/accomplishment when I get all caught up.

4} I take a break from the computer, since it's gone from being fun to being a chore.

If you keep pushing yourself to enter and things don't change, you will most likely burn out and quit, whereas if you make a decision to take a break for a day or 2, you are still in control.

I *usually* find I return after my mini "vacation" that I'm refreshed and can see things more clearly, so the little things don't get to me, and I enjoy instead of dreading entering my sweeps. :sunny:

reminder to self...

I've found that when people go through a dry spell they tend to focus on things that may be preventing them from winning - it's a natural reaction, especially when you used to win so easily!!! But, all the reasons people think of that may be preventing them from winning (more sweepers/cheaters/etc.) have minimal impact - it's really all about timing - either you have it or you don't.

I decided to keep track of my wins by printing the "Congratulations" page or IW notification page. I place these in a 3 ring binder and plastic sheet protecters. When I need to, I take a look at my winnings to keep me motivated. I check email on my iphone frequently.

I also print the congratulations pages and when the win comes in I staple any note that is enclosed to the orginal page. I just keep mine in folders. I have 10 years worth at the moment.

whenever I get a win page, I always "save my work" by:

1} Bookmarking and also C&P'ing the url to my win's notepad JIC there is an issue - it cuts down on confusion if I have to chase down the win.
2} C&P'ing the winning page, which will sometimes have a confirmation code.
3} Clicking PRINT SCREEN & saving to PAINT, since many times I won't be able to C&P that confirmation code.

I love the IWs, too. It's like having your own private slot machine where you get one free pull every day, and now and then you win stuff; but like regular gambling, the most fun is in the 'action' not the winning. I also enter all the ones with a lot of little "nothing" prizes. It's fun getting free stuff in the mail, then at Christmas I wrap up a basket full of 'grab bag' gifts (hats, key chains, t-shirts, etc.) for everybody to pick one or two. It's a big hit and great fun for all. My best one so far this year is going to be a nice little box, that I'm going to wrap up, that came containing 1 roll of toilet paper!
If you fixate on the winning of sweeps and not the fun of entering, then it just becomes a job that doesn't pay very well.

Sooooooooooooooo true!!!

Thanks for all the great tips. Mostly all my wins so far have been small but small can be really fun. For instance, I intered to win a CD from rolling stones but didn't win the main prize but we now have a 2 year subscrition to rolling stones that my DH even takes to work for lots of people to enjoy. So enjoy those little wins. The big ones will come sooner or later.

While reading this essay by the creator of DILBERT, I was struck by this:

The universe has plenty of luck to go around; you just need to keep your hand raised until it's your turn. It helps to see failure as a road and not a wall.

It's PERFECT for sweepers!!!

Just a little note, with all the sweeps ending at the end of the month, BE SURE to check your emails carefully, everyone.

A story- Lucky for me, even as careless as I've been lately w/ my Gmail email account because it separates it out for me, I didn't find a lost win.(entered some blogs so now I get newsletters)...

I've heard quite a bit about no response on message boards and they can't get their prize, or something to that effect.

I'm sure this has been written before on this thread, lol! Still, I think it's good to keep in mind.

Helpful

This was really helpful. It can be frustrating when you're not winning and it's good to keep in mind that you need a positive attitude!!

I have been sweeping for over 12 years now... only won one prize over $1,000 and that was 9 years ago!!! in the past 5 years I have won NOTHING!
don't know why.... I play by the rules. I enter when it says to enter but... guess I only had one big sweep in my karma and that was a enter once only
But I keep entering every day and hope for the best!
