Is anyone else having problems logging in? tonight it kept saying not able to show that page, check your internet connection or spelling, I ran a connection check and it was fine, it has been doing this off and on for alittle while now, I try dumping all my cookies and stuff and it doesn't matter, I just keep trying and sooner or later I get on. Is it me or is something going on with the site, not really a complaint, just want to know how to fix it, I gota get my daily SA fix. lol

Last night I was having a little problem with the site. It was loading slow and some of the links (new sweeps, expiring, expired, etc) had extra words in a different font (example: expired expired sweeps). I'm tired this morning so that may not have made sense but it seems to be working okay this morning.

still having lots of trouble getting on site, get internet cannot display that page, please make sure you are connectted to the internet, also know acouple others having same thing. if I disappear for awhile, someone please tell adminastration we are lost. lol my e-mail is [email protected] if you cant find me. not sure why it is doing it, I could not sweep any last night or all day today, finally dumped everything for the 3rd time and it let me in, I am not sure what it is or if it is the site or my computer. hope it gets going right, I really miss you guys when cant get in the site.

I think that the GTB has been busy "enhancing" the site again.

I noticed that yesterday the site was demanding to start Quicktime everytime I opened a page here. So somebody has been adding "goodies".

For those that don't know: Quicktime is a presentation enhancer used by advertisements. It is not needed for ANY functionality of a browser or operating system, but the makers hit you with pop-ups demanding that you install it to "properly display this page" while after you install it it is generally hidden and hard to delete off your system. (First clue that you don't want it is how hard they make it to be found and deleted!) I had Quicktime turned off (with Startup Monitor) but everytime it hits a page request it demands to be turned on at start-up. (another clue that you don't want it!) ... so I just used a scalpel and cut its ***** off. :booty"

And I have come to notice over the last 3 months that the site response tends to go down the toilet after 8-9 pm Pacific time. Its gotten so bad that I don't even bother to access here after that time.

* "Now playing in High Definition: QuickTime 7"

After 10 years and with millions of users worldwide, Apple's QuickTime player still provides one of the best solutions for digital media. Whether you're watching streaming movie trailers online or diving headlong into QuickTime as a creation platform, you'll find little to quibble about in this veteran player.

Its few quirks are quickly offset by the elegant Apple interface and the top-notch audio/video playback quality. QuickTime 7 comes in two varieties. The free standard player handles popular audio, graphic, and video formats, including the much-ballyhooed H.264 and MPEG-4. Also, for $29.95, you can upgrade to the content-creation-friendly Pro version, which adds features such as full-screen playback, easy editing, H.264/MPEG-4 production, and the ability to save movies from the Web.

MPEG-2 support is available, but at an additional cost of $19.95.High-definition content looks impressive with the new H.264 codec, but hardly better than with similar offerings from Microsoft. The stylish transport controls and the friendly layout work well. Inclusion of the autoupdate and automatic-network-detection features make getting started and staying current easy.

Overall, QuickTime 7 continues to be a must-have for anyone surfing the Web or looking to experience the best in digital media.

I'm sorry you are having problems! I'll notify admin :)

lol looks like pmeek beat me to it!

I was having problems with FF & robo - turned out I just needed to update! :crazytongue:

I rarely have problems with SA, but when I do, I admin has suggested:

When this happens just close your web browser and re-open. You should at this point get redirected to a good web server

As an alternative to force this change for stubborn isp's you can use open DNS which is a free dns service separate from your ISP. Here is the site.

I take it a step further:

I clear cookies/temp files and reboot, after I ensure all my progs are updted.

hth, hang in ther, amy :sunny:

golly ... that is a marvelous dissertation ... (did they pay you for that plug?) ... but the point eludes me!

If I refer to your above "copy and paste" I am then left wondering what SA could ever be using such a high powered professional graphics program for????

Bet you don't have an answer for that one!

Ignore the press releases  .... last time I checked I didn't just fall off the turnip truck. Nobody uses quicktime ...except for ad designers and god only knows why they are still using it. Also you will notice that Ken has made no comment on this ... how enlightening!

I personally don't care if he loads this site up with Quicktime based ads ... makes no diff to me (since I castrated quicktime on my machine) ... when the site becomes unusable I will cease to use it. :crazytongue: And if I quit coming here that will just one less "pay-per-click" user he should of / could of had. Major bummer, eh?

But it is his site and he can do whatever he wants!

My only point is that he was obviously doing work on the site that day which might explain why some trouble might have been encountered. Pure and simple.

ps: not picking on you :) :) :) ... or the boss guy either :crazytongue:

Every so often someone may have trouble getting to SA. If its a widespread problem we will post about it on our new Blog site www.sweepstakesforme.com . This new blog site is hosted on a separate network and should always be available in the event that SA is down. We are also going to start posting sweepstakes articles there.

Please clear your temporary files and restart your computer. If is still
does not work try using this free proxy.

http://www.guardster.com/subscription/proxy_free.php

Just type our url in and it will redirect you to a framed page with us in
it. It loads a litte slower.. fyi

If this works it may be a problem with your computer or web browser
configuration as the proxy will most often bypass these things.

LB - your post made me curious so I did some searching and posted what I found, since I couldn't find anything on what you posted.
