after midnight tonight, you will not be able to use analog cell phones or older-model OnStar vehicle systems. This is the first step in the switchover to digital broadcasting for radios, cell phones and OnStar. All analog televisions have until February 2009 before they, too, will be worthless.

My Mom had been using the same analog phone (which my roommate bought her!) for years now. She is upset that she has to give it up, but her new phone has Frogger so she is pretty happy with it :laughing: The old one was the size of a brick.

This might be an ignorant question but, what are analog Cell phones? We have a newer Nokia made this year, is that considered analog? Or are they talking about car phones?

They are on different bandwiths... like shortwave, FM and AM radio are all radio, but different frequencies. Lots of older phones were analog, not just car phones. Uh, here, this makes more sense than me... :laughing:
