Never Received Prize-Crabpot Christmas Tree

Hi,

I won a crab pot Christmas tree from a sweeps from last fall but never received the prize. I replied to the Congrats email I received and no response. I went on to the website and left a blog saying I never received the prize and received another email saying they were sorry and would look in to it.

Since then there has been no tree and no response from the sweepstakes promoter. Unfortunately, my system crashed in the meantime and I lost all my emails so no longer have her information. I also cannot find it in the Expired sweepstakes.

I have never experienced this and feel it is so unprofessional for the promoter. Is there any way of finding who the promoter was again, I think it was a blog I had entered. I thought I would try one more time, maybe third time is a charm.

Thank you,

Hi venice,

I searched expired sweeps for "crab pot" - nothing. Searched for a few other things, "like Christmas tree", "crab"...but didn't find anything like a crab pot tree.

I also searched through Google for things like "crab pot Christmas tree giveaway" and "win crab pot Christmas tree." The things that came up were mostly before 2015, but maybe if you search further you will find it that way.

Wish I could have found it - good luck!

Was it a blog? If so good luck, I've seen far to many complaints from people who haven't received prizes from Blogs. A Blog is run by an individual, and frequently they don't have a clue about the various State and Federal sweepstakes laws.

In a typical sweep there are two entities. The Sponsor (provides the prizes) and the Promoter who is paid by the Sponsor to develop, market and administer the sweep. Some Sponsors develop, market and administer their own sweeps. Most don't as they feel the don't have the necessary knowledge and would rather pay a pro to it. Do you remember the name of the Sponsor? Promoter?

I just Googled - - crab pot Christmas tree sweepstakes - - -and found your post. Yup, it's there, verbatim, thanks to Google and its web crawlers. Everything you posted - including the reply by arrtup3 - Google found and uploaded to the internet. Be careful what you post to Forums like this. Google will find it and upload it to the internet & it could come back to haunt you in the future. Give Google time to find it, and my reply will also be uploaded, or maybe it attaches automatically.

I also found two sweepstakes - - Crab Pot Christmas Tree Giveaway! | Southern Living Blog
and - - https://www.pinterest.com/pin/116601077828453328/

Thanks, I'd never heard of crab pot xmas trees - there's even some YouTube videos of them. I also found a video tutorial on how to make your own tomato cage xmas tree.

You are right, curmudgeon, blog giveaways can be iffy, depending on the honesty and reliability of the individual blogger. When blog giveaways were fairly new, I tried a few and won a very nice bracelet. Then, some bloggers started to require so many steps, or offer them as options for extra entries, it was becoming ridiculous, so I quit (comment, tweet, like, follow, visit/visit daily, subscribe, download, vote, refer your friends, etc.). Last year, I needed an item from particular category for a gift, so I tried again, selectively. I entered a handful of blog giveaways related to the item I needed, and I won an item just under $100, much to my surprise. I received my wins quickly both times, but I have read about other people who have had negative experiences. I don't have time for it, but occasionally I take a look, because sometimes people post decent blog wins.

So, you take a chance - to win, of course, but also a chance that the blogger is a good one and you are not wasting your time or opening the door to disappointment.

My opinion, on blog giveaways is kind of like trying to make an income filling out surveys. This morning, I got up and started trying to fill out surveys. I haven't qualified for even one survey and it's been hours. Ho hum. It is v-e-r-y time consuming to a.) find the blog giveaway b.) complete the steps and maybe come back to the blog c.) to me, the forms they use raffflecopter are iffy (I know they are very legit and true in fact, buuuut to me....when picking one winner usually there's just alot of competition for the blog prize. I belong to Bloglovin to add blogs to read, and used to enter blog giveaways. I mean if you can afford to sit at your computer and complete requirements you may win, but...there's always a but. You know! I am for the easy easy requirements. And, I do mean easy. It is VERY discouraging when a form doesn't work to me.

Want to say Thank You to arrtup3

Hello,

I had posted an inquiry to find a sweeps from last fall for a Crab Pot Christmas tree that I had won but never received. I was sent a reply from arrtup3 that after a thorough search, the sweeps could not be found but something in his reply made me remember that my sweeps emails also go in to my Ipad.

Well, I checked and there was the Congrats letter from USALoveList! I emailed them again, they contacted the sponsor, and I now have the tree. I love it and looking forward to displaying it next Christmas.

I want to thank arrtup3 as I appreciate the time and effort put in searching the sweepstakes for me, and I credit you for sparking that thought to check Ipad emails.

Thanks again,

Venice1,

You are very welcome - I am glad I was able to help (indirectly!). I moved your post here to merge it with the original thread (and sent you a pm to let you know) so that we can all read the happy ending! Thanks also to curmudgeon and doll38! :)

I also learned a few things in the process - I had never heard of, or noticed, Crab Pot Christmas trees. I like the look, plus the concept - recycled materials (sometimes) and energy efficient LED lights.

I just took a look at the blog, USA Love List, "Stuff we love: Made in the USA"- and I saw a photo of your tree - very, very nice, and nice blog with giveaways regularly.

So glad you have your tree now, and thanks for taking the time to post the Thank You and the rest of your story!
