my turn to whine

I think part of it is less good sweeps being offered. Though I have noticed a higher percentage of instant wins. The other half is the people that win everything. Most of the people here enter for themselves and their spouses. But there is a growing population that enters for anyone and everyone they know. There are plenty of ways to "cheat" and plenty of people that don't have a problem doing it. And these people win a lot. So you get 5% of sweepers winning 50% of the prizes. There isn't much left for us. I took a break for a couple months this year and I'm trying to decide if I want to quit entirely. I have won exactly nothing in the last 3 months, and it gets frustrating. I didn't win a lot before but there was at least a steady trickle of small prizes.

The entire time I have been sweeping I've heard of this small group of cheaters/rule benders/etc who scoop up all the goodies but just entering for just myself, I was winning lots of prizes [sometimes 3 or more in a single day] for long stretches, then I'd hit a wall, and go to the back of the line, and then start winning lots again. Over 12 years, I've won tons of smalls [under $100} many mediums [between $100 to $1,000] and a handful of biggies, with $10,000 cash being my personal best.

But funny thing? It wasn't until I changed from thinking of "why not me/why can't I win/dang cheaters/etc" and focused on what/when/and how I entered, did I finally start to win - that's when I came up with the Sweepers Credo

Thread: NOT WINNING ANYTHING? Tips on WHY:
http://www.sweepsadvantage.com/foru...talk/28592-not-winning-anything-tips-why.html

Some see sweeping as a zero sum game, where if I win, you lose, but I view it a bit differently - opportunities abound for those willing to commit the time & energy, and while it doesn't give a return equal to our input, if we are consistent, persistent, and patient, the possibilities are endless!!!

Did you start sweeping convinced that you *would* win?
I ask because I'm convinced a good/positive attitude is essential for a sweeper.
I know I about went nuts my first 6 months seeing people winning left and right, sometimes the same people over and over for specific IW's, and I couldn't hit a thing. I allowed myself to get bitter and suspicious, which almost ruined sweeping for me.
When I finally realized it was all in the timing/luck of the draw, my attitude changed, I stopped looking inward and looked outward, helping others where I could, and I finally won! It was on an IW where you wrote a review, and someone asked if we'd help her family owned business. My focus was so intently on helping her out, I was shocked when it said congratulations!!!
This experience changed my attitude, and saved my hobby - and I came up with:

The Sweeper's Credo:

Enter and forget it.
Always be happy for those who win - even when they win "your" prize - and be positive you will win.
Sweeping is a hobby that is all about timing. Especially for those elusive instants! IF you enter at the exact right moment, you will win.
If not? Sad to say you won't. But I assure you - it's nothing personal, and those who win a lot don't have any "secrets" - they are just consistent, persistent, and patient.
I really believe that if you go into it thinking you can't win, well, you'll MAKE yourself right so often you'll start believing it!!!
I truly do believe you have to have a positive attitude - don't get hung up on what others are doing - just focus on entering, then move on to something else - like posting so we can get to know you!!!
So hang in there - and enter, enter, enter - and you'll be posting a win before you know it!!! And remember - every day brings new opportunities to win!!!

Got to agree with Amy, in the past I had 'rushes' followed by some off months followed by more wins of good stuff, but for the past almost 2 years it has been quiet. Of course, it
is possible that cheaters have become more sophisticated and have made some companies decide not to offer sweepstakes they otherwise would have. And yes, I'm
sophisticated enough (if I wanted to) to enter for numerous friends to greatly increase my chances of winning, but then that would require ever increasing time and
I don't want to be office-bound! But of course I also don't cheat since I actually have ethics and use them.

Amy, yes, you asked if I noticed less Christmas sweeps but I think the numbers of sweeps are down across the board. We'll see how many '12 days of Christmas' instant wins come out
the next 2 months. Oh yeah, another problem for me and I suspect most guys is that about 70% of the prizes are directed specifically at females. Sure, I could enter those and give them
to women I know but the last time I checked I'm not an unpaid employee of theirs! And it's amazing how many low-value sweeps are out there, and also sweeps sites that I do not trust at
all. If a site exists solely for sweepstakes and has no other business I will not enter them, period.

P.S. More proof - there are only FORTY (40) single entry sweepstakes listed to enter on the first day of the month! I remember the days when you would see 80 and even topping 100 all of the time. The first couple of days were always a chore to enter sweeps! Not now. Also, there's only 4 Facebook sweeps today and Pinterest has essentially completely abandoned sweeps. It's just down all across the categories. :-(

I just was noticing that pinterest sweeps were few and far between. I don't really mean it in a boo hoo those cheaters got all my prizes kind of way. Just in a don't feel like you are doing something wrong when you see those people that still seem to be winning 3 trips, a car, and $50,000 in cash and prizes every year. There are always a few prizes I obsess over but for the most part I try to do what I'm doing and ignore the others.

I see the state..all the states..but it says Plus access only..on the new sweeps list everyday..I can't enter any for my state if there are any.

Gotcha - so as long as you check daily and/or know what to search for you can see them, you just can't see the category.

I didn't take it that way goldenpaso - it just reminded me of how I was totally like that when I started out!

kcmoviebuff - Ken asked us [editors] to spread them out so there wouldn't be too many going into 1 category

But yeah, less sweeps - ever since the recession started [2007 by my lights] I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop & sponsors to ditch using ad $$$ for sweepstakes!

Definitely agree with the decrease in sweeps over the past year or so... but there seems to be a lot of good Christmas themed ones coming out thus far so that's promising anyway.

Also wonder what happened to the pinterest platform. Those promotions fell off a cliff.

Are more people entering now.. maybe due to the high unemployment (resulting in more people having time to enter) or are there just fewer sweeps now? What do you think? Also, I do not participate in social media which it seems is required for lots of sweeps now. Good luck for us all in 2017.

I am also going through a serious drought too! I agree there is not as many "good" sweepstakes it seems. But I am entering away just no luck as yet! Hoping that changes this week. Come on big win!
