Mono really stinks

I always heard it called "the kissing disease" but let me tell you, as far as I can tell - there is nothing fun about it! My 12 year old has it and has been out of school since Tuesday. I hate to see her suffer but it has been just awful. The doctor says it will take three or four weeks but I just know that someone out there has a miracle cure. Please feel free to share it with me!

I had it a couple of years ago and it is miserable! I didn't feel 'normal' for about two months. I did feel better, but it was really bad so just know when she says she is worn out she really is. I think I could have slept for all of that two months!!

I wish I could give you a magic cure, but I sure didn't have one and would have loved to have to have had one!! Just make her rest as much as possible...

I hope she feels better soon!

Mono can be fatal too (I know I'm so cheerful :sunny:)

Many kids require pain control to deal with the symptoms (depending on the severity of the infection), my friend Jen had to be on morphine and prednisone and was out of school for six months.
Your daughter will hopefully not have a severe case. I'll just not mention chronic mono...:)

Oh wow, I'm sorry to hear that! You said on Facebook your child was sick but I didn't know how serious...I'm so sorry! yeah, i think Chocolate Sweepstakes & Giveaways ice cream probably would help.

Please tell your daughter we are thinking of her and hoping she'll get better very soon!

You guys were so sweet to give me a pat on the back. I hate it when my babies are sick. Even thought they are teenagers and really don't seem to like me much on any give day. I'm sure they'll come around one of these days. Either that or I'm gonna have to up my intake of tequila. She went back to school today for the first time since Monday, November 10th. Whewww. That is alot of makeup work. She won't have a problem except for ALGEBRA. Can you even believe a 12 year old kid in the 7th grade has to take algebra! Good lord I just don't get it. I can say in all honesty I have NEVER used it in my everyday life. She has missed over a week so I guess I will hire a tutor. A week from algebra pretty much puts you on a different planet compared to the kids that were there in class. Oh well, this to shall pass! Just hope we didn't pass the germs on to anyone.
