I won! and I couldn't use the prize...

Hi. I apologize in advance if I am posting this in the wrong spot. I am not a pro in this area. The thing is... I won a couple of tickets for a minor league baseball game and the contest administrator asked for my address so he could send them to me. I sent him my address and then I mapquested the directions to get there. It was MUCH farther away than I thought it was and I knew I couldn't get there on said date.
My question is this... has anyone ever found themselves in this situation and what did you do? I contacted the admin and asked them to give the tickets to someone else. I felt bad about it though. :cry: Any advice?
 
I won concert tickets last year to a venue that was 4.5 hours from me....that wasnt as much of an issue as the date of the concert and I couldnt go....I did the same thing, asked the administrator to give them to someone else....sometimes when that happens you can just take the tickets and offer them on the FSOT page, or just sell them outright on sites like Ebay etc, so that you can at least benefit from the prize financially....in my case with the concert tix, I wouldnt have received the actual tickets anyway, they held them at will call, so the only option I had was to turn them down.
 
I had to turn down a real nice nascar prize to the richmond race cause we were going on a trip win to san diego already and tickets to the daytona 500 because they told me only a couple of day in advance and with my dogs and traveling i need more time to plan. It happens somebody else gets real happy they won don't worry to me it's still in the won column even though i was disapointed not to be able to go
 
Thank you for the stub hub site. We all win stuff we don't want. At the moment, I am waiting for the birth of a grandson.... The wait is tough!

ebay also sells tickets sometimes the win tickets are at the willcall so you won't get them to sell
 
Ebay and Stub Hub are really good for selling them. I have given wins away to family, friends and other SA members, hat I could not use. Hope you find a solution. SORRY you won something you can't use.
Hopefully it will be a better win for you next time.
