Athough, the past two months have been horrendous for me personally(both my father and brother have passed). I have been able to lose myself on the SA website and not have to think of those things that need to be done.

First of All - My prayers are with you

Having said that, I don't think it crass at all. You have to have something that will help take the hurt away I know that only time will do that but sometimes doing something to divert you thoughts helps. I am sure that I say this for everyone that reads this site - we are with you.

I lost my Momma two years ago and my sister last year and I understand completely what you are saying. For months and months I didn't want to leave this site and these great people. They truly are my extended family! I have been blessed to have them as friends and to have won some nice prizes along the way!!

I hope that you are able to just take it day by day, and when you need to escape from the reality of life that you join your "other" family!!

Sorry about your loss. Congrats on your wins! Glad to hear I'm not the only one that loses my self in "sweeps" when I am upset.

Sweeping is an escape. It is for me. I've been going through a rough time , health wise. I've had to have 2 surgeries in 1 year. (and i've already had numerous surgeries before these. I was born with muscular dystrophy.)
when i get a win or a surprise shows up unexpectedly on my doorstep, it makes me smile for a little while.

There are several of us here who have had family losses in the last year and you are right, coming to SA is a great source of comfort and a few minutes of solice. So sorry for your loss but happy to see you have been getting some great wins.

It is not crass. I have gone thru 3 cancer surgeries and a husband that just walked out on me. I swear reading everyone's posts and talking to people here has kept me sane. Congrats on your wins and take it one day at a time. I will put you on my prayer list. Kelly

I am so sorry to hear about your losses and NO it isnt crass of you to say that...if sweeping brings some much needed joy into your life then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it at all...I know for me any win brings a little bit of joy into my life and congrats on all of your wins and may you have many more. My thoughts and prayers are always with you.

:smt009 our prayers are with you and your family we knows how you feel to loose a loved one i have had a son to get killed in a fire one son died at birth and both of our parents are deceased with the help of god i have been able to make it thru it is hard but i just keep praying for strength to make it we will keep praying for you and your family and congratulations on your wins hope that you continue to win more may god bless you and your family

So sorry to hear of your losses but it is nice to have some activities to take our minds off the sad things in life! Happy to know that you've had some nice wins and hope there are many more in the future.

Is this crass? I placed in the top 10 of a national recipe contest. I didn't place in the top three where the cash prizes were. I wrote the recipe for the cash prize, not to stroke my ego for placing or getting published. As I'm blessed with the ability to write recipes awake or in my sleep, as a professional or amateur. The only thing I feel is a huge loss because I didn't reach my goal after I wrote it. And the accolades and lip service I get for placing fall on deaf ears and don't pay my bills. Plus, I've won a couple grand prizes for recipe contests and sweepstakes, so I won't settle for less than the big one for original work, I will just move on. Its not worth a winners circle mention to me.
On the upside, I can enter sweeps and more recipe contests and hope some of those meet my goals and the recipes work for what I wrote them for.
And if it is crass, I don't care. I was goal oriented enough to get there and know what I want out of it. I hope this erases any self doubts you may have had about sweeps wins or why you sweep. sq :smt017

Please accept my sympathies in the loss of your family members. Losing family is one of the hardest things one can go through. This site has got to be the most wonderful on the internet in its caring people and all the friends one makes while here. Ken and Diane have made SA so special that I can't imagine not having it when I'm having a unpleasant circumstance to go through.

Congrats on the wins and I might add quite an impressive list.
