How long folks

It's a HOBBY. There's no guarentee you will ever win anything. There's nothing that even says you have to win.

It's like the lottery. No guarentees

True, but just like gambling, people do have an expectation {rational or not} to win, and it takes time for people to reach the point where they "get" that EVERY win is to be celebrated since as you note, there are NO guarantees :)

Everybody has different ways of dealing with disappointment so I advocate purging the negativity if they wish to continue enjoying this hobby - the left brainers among us don't see/feel the need :crazytongue:

Hi just wanted to say that I have been doing sweeps for about 2 years and I honestly havent really won anything, once a bottle of lotion from Allure, and yesterday I just won the Kraft $15 coupons. I keep entering because I say you cant win unless you enter, and I just have a feeling that I am going to win something big sooner or later I spend about 2 hours each and everyday entering! I have heard if you enter sweeps early in the morning on Sundays that this helps but it doesnt for me maybe for you, good luck and hang in there you will win if its meant to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A few random thoughts:

--- Well, one way it is different from the lottery is that sweeping is free! Of course, you can spend money on it, but one of my personal rules for this hobby is that I don't spend a penny.

--- I find that pessimists like me are better suited to this hobby. My son is an optimist and he gets discouraged much quicker by not winning. I don't mean that to be negative towards optimists - the world certainly needs them - I'm just saying that if you are an optimist, you have to understand that your personality makes this hobby just a little more frustrating!

Good luck to everyone. May the gods of random chance look your way soon (and my way, too, since Jan has been a tad slow). :)

Yes, it is a hobby, and there is nothing that says you have to win, but IT IS OKAY to feel frustrated when you used to win a lot, and when you're spending a lot of time of them, only to win nothing, it's can be letdown. FOR ME, IT'S COME TO A SCREECHING HALT. :cussing: THAT'S what most of us are venting about. It used to be so different (for me at least), and now it has slowed down...er....stopped).

It's come to a halt for me too, and I spend way too much time online entering these things.

It's just that lately it seems a lot of newbies here (and a certain ''other site'') seem to think that because they joined a sweepstakes site (and/or paid for a membership) that it automatically means they ARE going to win something. and that's far from the truth.

It's all about timing and luck. (oh, and frustration )

It appears to me that those who complain the most are also those that turn down the prizes that they actually do manage to win! (Those folk that join and post here (1-3 posts) just so they can whine, complain, and hope that members here will enable them and "make them feel better" for being total idiots. Isn't that what 'support-group' junkies do?)*

I have to agree there also. One thing I have noticed is that the "counts" of people entering contests here have gone up by at least 4x during the last year. A "One Entry" Sweep that used to get 500 entries via this site is now getting 2-3000 entries. Either this site is finally being recognized as the "premiere" sweeps site ... or it might be that massive amounts of people have joined the Sweeps Community.

But, the end result is the same: The more people entering ... the worse the odds for one particular person winning.

And as I have stated before: The quantity and quality of real prizes has diminished in the last year also. So a lot of little junk is being won instead of what used to be the norm. Winning a tube of lipstick might be a great win for those the have a 'chronic need to win' but real prizes are few and far between now. For those folks Madberry is a godsend. But I don't even waste my time with those. I don't even consider those to be legitimate Sweeps wins. They are basically "giveaways" disguised as sweeps. But if a drawer full of feminine hygene products gives you the warm fuzzies ...

In sweeping there are no promises ... no guarantees. I have won my "BIG" prize ($33,000) ... so if I ever hit something else in my lifetime ... it will just be gravy on the 'taters.

:crazytongue:

*yep ... I don't like whiners. They chap my hide like a bad fitting saddle! :crazytongue:

I LOVE  the sweeps for girly products. These sweeps enable me to try products I would hesitate to buy, like scented soaps, and most recently this product called a "bath bomb". :crazytongue: Would I ever in all my born days have bought a "bath bomb"...no, because it sounds weird, they're expensive and they look funny. But now that I've won some and tried them I see why people like them. Lipstick is GREAT win...for people who don't have lipstick. And do you have any idea how much designer lipstick costs? The last lipstick I won (which my Mom is using) costs more than a 32 gig USB flashdrive! And for that price you get staying power and clarity of color that you do not get with the cheaper stuff. I don't enter for these products out a a neurotic drive to win, but because the prizes are interesting, fun and useful. I think the "little" things are really the most fun part of sweeping! :sunny:

What is a "bath bomb"?

And have you looked at the price of feminine hygiene products lately? That stuff really adds up!

I agree completely tharedhead, I love the small wins also, as far as madberries being a gimmie I have entered them several times and never won, so they don't gimmie to me. lol. And if someone wants to whine, I don't care, if I don't want to hear it, I don't read that post. But I am kind of a live and let live type, so let all sweepers do their own thing, and have fun, because in the end it is a hobby and hobbies are done for enjoyment. Just my opinion, and we all know everyone has one. Good luck to everyone and I hope you all win your hearts desire, and read only post that make you have that warm fuzzy feeling inside.

I have been entering for 4 weeks now and have'nt won anything!!! Im trying to stay patient. Congrats to you hopefully you'll hit a big one.

The prize arrived TODAY!!!!! There was no notice, it just showed up. Almost a full year after it ended. Sweeping is a game of patience! :headbang:

 and then there's my favorite Ben Franklin quote "Keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed but could be pleasantly surprised!" and I am an optimist. I enjoy entering and reading about all the great wins that people are getting big and small. As I am entering I am thinking to myself "Gee, wouldn't that prize be fun or nice to have", but I am really not expecting anything. Anything I do win is just a plus as there really isn't anything that I win that I really need to have.

and I too love those little beauty product wins. I haven't bought any make-up, hair care products, etc. in years. My bathroom is overflowing with all kinds of great beauty products that I have won. If I hadn't won them, I would have never bought them as most are higher end products. It's fun to try these products. I give alot of it away. It may not be a big win but it all adds up and it's not cutting into my wallet.

Wow! great replies! i just keep entering, my goal is to gradually increase how many i enter a day. I am pretty picky myself, but i think if i can build up to 5 or 6 hundred a day i think i may be pleasantly surprised with what wins i get. I am just no where near that at the moment.

even with Robo, not sure I could ever make 1000 a day. I probably enter a couple hundred dailies a day and 80 IW's, then I search for new one-entries and such - maybe that makes 300 a day I enter - and I'm spending a few hours. I have two kids so doing more would probably put me on a bad-mom reality show or something, but it is addictive. When I won a couple IW's last night I stayed up til 3 in the morning, couldn't lose the feeling that I was suddenly super-lucky. It wore off when my head hit the monitor.

Just keep on entering - you HAVE to win something eventually even if it's not enough to pay off your corolla. Even the little wins make you feel like a star for a minute and that's all worth it to me.

I enter for about 2 hours per day (and I take a day off here and there) and so far in January have won six prizes, and I am very very happy with that. I have only been doing this since late August and have done very well. I don't enter everything however, I just don't want to get burnt out.

When I first started I kept expecting to see mounds of packages at my doorstep everyday! Ha. Imagine my utter disappointment when reality kicked in.

I do dailies and instant wins together, honestly to do 200 take me two to three hours and i have roboform, i also have four pages open and i am fast. I don't know how some folks say they do 1000 a day in as little as two hours.
