How long does it take?

I received an email a couple weeks ago saying I was the "potential" grand prize winner in a Miller Lite contest. I filled out the affidavit, background check, and W9 and returned it next day. I know they already called my employer to confirm my information... So how long does it typically take to go through the process of verifying eligibility and receiving your prize (in my case a check)?

Also, if you are deemed in eligible for any reason, will they tell you? I work in a restaurant and the eligibility requirements said I could not work for an alcohol beverage retailer, which if assumed was a distributor or store. So there is a little gray area in my mind...

New to SA, been doing it on my own successfully for years though. Finally hit my first grand prize in 2014!

mainstayjames - if you were DQ'd, they'd probably tell you when they finalized the decision. My {only} big GP/check win was {IIRC}>affy>time passed>I got the check. How much time passed? At least a month.

Some sponsors are good about keeping you in the loop {"we got your affy, it will be another 8-10 weeks", etc.} while others just leave you wondering. But if you plan on 8-10 weeks from them receiving your affy, you'll be pleasantly surprised if it shows before then!

Thanks amyshulk. It's only been a week since they received my affidavit and I haven't heard anything yet so I wasn't sure if I needed to contact them to see where we stood in the process or if I need to wait patiently... Guess I'll sit back and keep checking my email & mailbox for a confirmation of the win. :)

I realize Amyshulk is far more expert at this than I am, but I almost always have written a nice little email if I've had to wait a bit like "sorry to bother you, but I'm so excited about winning your xxx contest, that I just wanted to make certain you got my affy (whatever) etc" After that I have 'almost' always (except for once) received a nice email back that goes something like "no worries! We have everything and you should recieve your prize in 4-6 weeks"

We've all got enough stress in our daily lives and I find this extra step usually relieves some for me.

Oh yeah sonnetdog, I do that too {nice note to ensure they rc'vd my affy} but most already let me know, so I just assumed mainstayjames was told they got it, they just didn't say when the prize would be sent - my bad!

See, NOT an expert, I just post my experiences/what I've read from other SA'ers!

I still have not heard from the promotion company or Miller Lite, and was going to compose an email and send it to them on Monday. Crossing my fingers...

Still waiting for my prize on this contest... It will be 10 weeks tomorrow. I called and spoke to my contact at the marketing company that ran the promo for Miller Lite and she said she submitted the paperwork a long time ago, and that she was surprised I hadn't heard anything from Miller yet. So she gave me a number to call Miller directly and it's almost as if they're giving me the runaround now. They asked that I forward them my winning email notifications and said they'll get back to me. Now I'm getting really nervous. I think I'll have a heart attack if I end up not getting the grand prize for some reason...

Been holding out, waiting to announce my winnings in the winners circle :D
