How did the debate go?

Former Republican senator criticizes McCain, supports Obama

GRAND RAPIDS -- Lincoln Chafee, a former Republican U.S. senator from Rhode Island, is throwing his support behind Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, saying he is disillusioned with Republican John McCain.

"Sen. Obama is the first Democrat I've ever voted for," Chafee said during a stop in Grand Rapids this morning.

He criticized McCain for pandering to the Republican Party's right wing, a strategy he said is dividing the nation and would make it difficult for McCain to govern.

"As he geared up for this 2008 election, it became a different John McCain who was pandering to the base," said Chafee. "That's what McCain is doing: dividing this country."

Chafee, the only Republican who voted against the Iraq war, was defeated for reelection in 2006 and last year declared himself an independent. He called this year's vote "the most important election of my lifetime.

"I saw what Bush and Cheney did," he said. "They came in with a (budget) surplus and a stable world, and look what's happened now. In eight short years, they've taken our peaceful and prosperous world, and they've torn it into tatters."

Chafee was accompanied on a swing through Michigan by Phil Arthurhultz, a former Republican state senator from Whitehall, who also is supporting Obama.

"There are people who say they are Republican, and they vote for Obama," Arthurhultz said, "and God bless them."

Holy cow! Obama is the first democrat he's EVER voted for!!
I find it interesting that he said McCain was diving this country. It sounds like he realized McCain isn't the man he claims to be. And to go as far as to say "God Bless them," to the republicans who vote for Obama speaks volumes! It's very refreshing to hear of a man going against his former political party, the republicans, on what he feels is the right thing to do.

Well being as I brought this up I thought I would post this. If this is right then I hope it gets out. If not then why won't Obama release the proper forms.

Obama has released every single paper, form, etc that is required of him.. everything. He just doesnt want this one guy.. just some guy off the street holding his birth certificate.

Sorry but we all need to know if O is qualified and in case you didn't notice Fact site is biased.

I guess we will all just have to wait either way won't we.

Who the hell does he think he is  grubby little hands

Really you sound like you hate the guy. Well we all have to present our birth certificates for just about everything so what's o's problem.

Oh and the guys a lunatic. Pretty harsh words there for someone just seeking the truth. Don't we deserve the truth when it comes to our next POTUS?

Oh and I'm sorry but in case you missed it McCain has no problem with releasing any papers. As I said we will see what the judge decides.

I didnt miss anything.. Obama released the papers to everyone and anyone that he was required to..

but just to make things even here..

McCain’s Canal Zone Birth Prompts Queries About Whether That Rules Him Out

WASHINGTON — The question has nagged at the parents of Americans born outside the continental United States for generations: Dare their children aspire to grow up and become president? In the case of Senator John McCain of Arizona, the issue is becoming more than a matter of parental daydreaming.

Mr. McCain’s likely nomination as the Republican candidate for president and the happenstance of his birth in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936 are reviving a musty debate that has surfaced periodically since the founders first set quill to parchment and declared that only a “natural-born citizen” can hold the nation’s highest office.

hmmmmmmm..

oh and fact check is not biased.. I quess some people think everything leans left..

Tracey why are you so upset about this? I posted information about a claim filed in court. Let's see what happens Fact site biased.

If McCain were not qualified I'd be saying the same thing.

No everything does not lean left but obviously a lot of media and internet sites do. We have established the fact that there is bias so I accept that. Let's see where this goes. As I said if the guy is wrong and O is a citizen fine but as American's yes we all have the right to know.

Im not upset at all cindy.. lmao actually.. Just trying to show the other side of things.

Fact check is not biased cindy. You are the only one saying it. If it was biased it wouldnt list negative stuff about obama.. it wouldnt call him out when he lies.

Tracey I apologize if I misread your harsh words and tone. Please feel free to call me Cindy I like that you want to be personable.

Please realize I don't mind anyone posting both sides but you sure came down hard on this lawyer who just wants the truth.

I think the site leans to the left so we can agree that we disagree on that one.

Wow you used my name twice that sounds so sweet. Thank you.

I guess I will just have to remember we are now getting to know each other and I think that's sweet.

So can I call you friend now lol.

well I figured since you were calling me tracey I might as well return the favor. And we can agree to disagree.. I dont expect anything less.

:) I'm feeling the love. I apologize about not asking if I should call you by your name. If it bothers you in the slightest I would be more than willing to call you 3mnkids1 I know how inconsiderate that might have been to not ask.

I personally have no problem with people using my name. I think it's sweet as I said. Hey by the time this election is over we may all be best of buds.

I think it's great that we can all be so loving to one another now. You know that was one of the first things I loved so much about SA. All the welcoming people here. I was made to feel like I was so welcome and could feel free to post things. Not like that other site where I came from. Shoot there all you could do is PM people if you wanted friends.

Anyways I am so glad I joined SA and still like it here.

I dont mind.. Its not like my name is a secret here.

OK great actually I never knew what your name was until you mentioned it in a PM I believe. I never see it anywhere so I guess I just figured since you told me in a PM I could call you by your name. I only know the names of mods or anyone else for that matter who tell me.

I know Amy is Amy and Lee told me his. Tammy told me hers. I have no clue who wolfie is

Pam told me hers. Anyways I will call you whatever you like.

I come to a sweepstakes site for sweepstakes, not politics. Its really boring seeing everybody hanging arguing about whether they want to vote for Tiger Woods or Cotton Hill -I'd rather see useful sweeping tips-that is why I'm a sweeper, not political blogger.

(Now that I have your attention, I find these neck exercises to be most useful:

Sitting or standing, put your neck in a neutral position. Your head should be directly over your shoulders and you should be able to reach behind your neck and feel that you have a small curve. Slide your hand to the side of your head, and with the palm of your hand begin to press against your head. Gradually press harder, but do not let any movement take place. Use your neck muscles to keep your head in the same place. Hold for a count of five, and release slowly. Resist your hand from both sides of your head as well as from the front and the back

Start with five reps in each position-you can do these while programing. If you hear any clicking in your neck stop!)

should be interesting.. no hanging chads.. but there will be other things im sure.

The applications were sent by the city's Democratic Party. At the top of mailer is an endorsement for Jay Nixon for Governor of Missouri.

Though sent by the Democratic Party, the return address on the envelope the application was mailed in, says the board of elections, which led to the angry phone calls.

The absentee ballots sent to voters in Rensselaer County identified the two presidential candidates as “Barack Osama” and “John McCain.” In the United States, the best-known individual named Osama is Osama bin Laden, leader of the al Qaida terrorist group behind the 2001 attacks that destroyed the World Trade Center in New York City.

both sides really need to get their acts together.
