Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh I love it love it love it!!!!!!!!!!! Halloween is so much fun. I hope I get hundreds of kids. Our neighborhood has a big party at the lake with a bon fire and hot cholcolate (probably don't need it with 78 degree days). I can't wait to dress up and hand out candy.

Wow where do you live? Obviously not in MN where it's 49 degrees! When I was kid we had a BLIZZARD on halloween. It set snowfall records in MN...school was cancelled for several days. But that didn't make up for the fact that we only made it to about 3 houses before we went home!

To each and everyone of our SA Family "HAPPY HALLOWEEN"!!! This is an awesome day for all that enjoy being a kid in one way or another. AND.....its our 32nd Wedding Anniversary. Life is full of tricks and treats and I do hope all of you get something nice and sweet today. Bless you all........Willa

Anika I feel your pain in MN!!!!!! I live a few minutes from Memphis, TN. I will be in shorts as soon as I get home from work. My husband lived in Apple Valley for 16 years and I never knew what cold was until I visited him up there. Dear Lord, I didn't know and ice cube could get any more frozen than it already is but you know what--------it can!!!!!!!!

Good God!! Kids already started coming to the door at 5:00 p.m., and I mean big kids. Boy, Halloween sure isn't like it used to be. My mother didn't start bringing us out until after dinner, and people were still giving out candy to 10 or 11 at night. We haven't even brought our 3-year-old out yet. Boy, at least around here, Halloween isn't as fun as it used to be.

We only had about 20. It just isn't like it used to be. They start early here too. It was a bit later this year because Daylight Savings is late.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Trick or treat! I wore my yearly sweatshirt that says it IS my costume...

We had more kids than last year, less big kids which surprised me. I still have tons of candy left! Happy Halloween to me...(-:

last night was fun. It wasnt as cold as last year. my youngest and his kindergarted class went to a local nursing home and come home from school with so much junk. my two oldest were mad. we only went to about 15 houses last night and they got a ton. they had a blast.

we got more than the past years, still nothing like when i was a kid. now a days it's "check the candy before you eat it!"
Never had to do that when I was a kid. the elderly lady up the block made us carmel covered apples, and we didn't have to worry about them. We knew everyone on the block when I was a kid. We went trick or treating in packs. It's not like that now adays. You have to be careful.

I'm 44, and they still told people to check the candy when I was a kid. There were a couple of instances of razor blades in the apples back then. You always had to be careful. I believe the problem now is that most parents are over-protecting and coddling their children instead of teaching them to be responsible and drilling "the rules of do's and don't's" into their head until they're sick of hearing them. Many parents have laxed in this area and more and more children are finding themselves in trouble because of it. I was a target in two situations in Brooklyn, NY when I was young; and thanks to all that my mother drilled into my head over and over again, I knew how to get myself out of the situation.

I sure do miss the Halloween of my childhood. It's not so much fun anymore, but we and our daughter did enjoy going around the street. I just wish we'd get alot of kids at our door.

Just a heads up, if anyone wants to bring their children to our door, we give out at least three full-size candy bars. :eat:

Where i grew up, not where i live now. Everybody new everybody. I knew all my neighbors, and we knew which houses we should go to, and which houses not to go to. My cousins used to live on the same block as us. So we always did everything together, and we always looked out for one another. It's not the same now adays. Now adays you can't just send your kids out to play, there's too much to worry about. When I was a kid , where i lived, there was such high, congested, traffic either. Things just changed.

we only got ten kids last night! One group of five little ones with their moms, and then one group of 5 teenagers. Guess will have to blame it on the snow and cold! I don't think everyone on our street even made it (although our house is probably the one you would skip, cause it is kinda set off from the others down a side road).

The group of little ones was sad! I said happy halloween and one boy about three looked at me and said "my hands are too cold!!, can you pick one out for me? I don't wanna take off my mittens" I ended up giving them each four, because by this time, I was realizing we had LOTS of candy for the traffic we were getting.

I grew up in a town of about 900 in ND, so I remember the cold and bitter wind too, although once in a while you would get one of those Indian Summer Halloweens and we would hit EVERY house in town, lol :)

That's another thing. Don't parents teach their children to say "trick or treat" and "thank you". More times than not they just stand there staring at you!!

I think all the ones I had said "thank you." albeit with a prompting for the really little ones by their moms. There was one in the group of little ones that was only two, he just kinda of looked at me. He wasn't getting the whole thing. I gave him his candy, and then he handed that to his mom, reached back in his own bucket and put a handful back of other candy back in my bowl!! hahaha (his mom was explaining this was his first time). I think he was just kinda puzzled! :) i think we still have a random kitkat from him in our bowl this morning!!

But it was so cute!!
