Happy Traveling! Try to include Muir Woods into your itinerary. You can fly into San Francisco, drive up 101 which splits off into hwy 1 West and on to Point Reyes passing Muir Woods on the way. If you are driving be careful as it is a harrowing drive. I have been as far as Muir Woods but not all the way to Point Reyes. Be sure to go when the weather is best. Fall is their Summer! PM if you have any questions.

Research all roads to get there. Highway 1 might not be best. Sir Francis Drake Blvd. might better.

I used to live up there before moving to the Midwest! My family is still there. The weather is mild during this time of year. If you get the chance visit Mt. Tamalpais by Muir Woods. You'll be surrounded by redwoods and cascade waterfalls. It's beautiful!

Congrats! Point Reyes is beautiful. I second the idea of driving via Muir Woods, just plan extra time. What seems like it should be a 30 min drive due to the distance is closer to 2-2.5 hours because the road is very narrow with lots of hairpin and switchback curves, but is a don't miss experience.
