The entry form states: "You could win a $2,500 PETCO gift card and a matching donation to your favorite shelter."

But the rules state: "One (1) winner will receive $2,500 with a matching prize of $2,500 to the animal shelter of their choice. Total Approximate Retail Value of Prize: $5,000." That's looks like cash with no mention of a gift card.

I think that the rules take precedence, but I am not a lawyer. Any lawyers reading this? Help, which prize is it? Thanks.

Rules do take precedence & they say:

Each prize is awarded "as is" with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied outside of manufacturer's limited warranty. No transfer, assignment, or substitution of a prize permitted, except Sponsor reserves the right to substitute for prize an item of equal or greater value in the event an advertised prize is unavailable.

So they wiil most likely do what costs them the least - if PETCO discounted/donated the prize for the advertisement...

Thx Amy S. That makes sense. I don't have a pet, but our animal shelter is always in need of funds and supplies, so if I win, I can give them both sets of gift cards and take the tax write off to balance the taxes out.
