I do not commonly use my legal first name and haven't since I was a child, but I have been using it for sweepstakes in case there is any question of verifying my identity etc. I don't mind signing up for sweepstakes that require a home address etc, I can throw away junk mail no problem, but it is starting to annoy me to get a lot of mail with my given name on it, the name I really don't use. Has anyone ever had an issue with having to prove or verify identity for a contest win if there's a name discrepancy? I would like to be able to use my nickname on these contest entries as well, but I'm worried about being asked to verify identity on the chance of a win.
For context, it's not something like using "Katie" instead of "Katherine," the name I use is a derivative of my middle name, so I'm worried about not being able to "prove" that it should be me.
