for when you need UPCs

I was thinking tonight about how annoying it is when you see a sweepstake you need a upc for but you don't have it. I thought wouldn't it be great if there was somewhere you could look them up and thanks to the grand old web there is! I found www.upcdatabase.com Membership is free and it seems to have lots of UPCs.

I thought I'd share this!

: for when you need UPCs

I've use the site occassionally but found the UPCs to be lacking for many of the newer products.

They also have a lot of codes that are no longer valid. Sometimes, it takes forever to find a working code, if any.

I don't think the webmaster (mistress?) or whoever is from the U.S. - I did a search... alot of the UPC's listed were for cassettes, CD's, VHS tapes and DVD's. I didn't recognize other things- I'm sure they're foreign products. Don't tell anyone- but occasionally, very rarely, I'll go to the store with notepad and pen and copy a UPC! There! I said it, Guess I'll be arrested any moment now! At least I'll have 3 'hots and a cot' ! LOL

pinkie_d I'll be in the bunk right beside ya - sharing the 3 hot's cause I have done the same thing... LOL

Many times the sponsor will instruct us to write down the UPC code from their product if they don't provide us one to play - nothing wrong with that!

BUT - if it's a UNIQUE code that's on the container? PLEASE - don't take it unless you buy the product - now that IS wrong!!!

: for when you need UPCs

Thanks for the update. I keep a spiral note book by my desk with UPC's that I've often needed for contests. I try to find them when I shop. Then transfer them to my spiral. Like the Nabisco products. And so on.

When looking for codes try googling for the whole code of one of the codes you know exists like 031000166113.
Your search will be:
031000166113 whole code
03100016611 missing last digit
31000166113 missing first digit
3100016611 missing both digits.

By searching for missing both digits I found this list: http://www.treyhayden.com/91.htm
Searching missing the last digit gave me this list: http://www.seff.com/wholesale/category-d1-m120-m0-items.php

Sometimes the URL will have part of the UPC. There are some excellent guides but they are on my MSN favourites. Search for the name of the product but try to focus on what would be in a store's description

Re: for when you need UPCs -AXE

Dear splitraindrop, I went to the site you posted. Maybe  I'm not looking in the right place but  I can't find free codes. I saw a place to buy them. Does anyone have a code for the
Axe DARK TEMPTATIONs SWEEP? (on SWEEP SHEET)
Thank you,
