So I won the Wranglers trip for a concert that included airfare, hotel and gift-cards. They just sent me the Affidavit form and the first blank to fill in is Social Security Number and it also asks for where I work and how long I have worked there.

Other forms I have filled out in the past never asked for that information.

Seems fishy.

NEED your opinions and suggestions!

Thank you !

I don't know why they care about your job, but they need the SSN so that they can inform the IRS about the win. They have to do this if the win is $600 or more, and sometimes they do it for smaller wins too.

Well if you're already giving your SSN on an affadavit, the job question seems less important at that point...as strange as it is. If you are really concerned though, call or email the person/company you are dealing with and ask why they need that info.

They need the SSN for tax reporting purposes. My trip affidavit didn't ask for my job info, but I faxed everything to them from work, so my cover sheet had my company name, address, etc. Have fun on your trip - free trips are the best!

About half the affidavits I've filled out have asked for job-related information. I'm retired, so I just put the word "Retired." I have no idea why they sometimes ask for this info, but I don't think there is anything fishy about it.

Agree with all the above! You won a good prize, and they do need to report it to the IRS, as do you! That is the downside of winning the big prizes! Gotta pay those taxes! Still, I'm sure you would never have entered if you didn't intend to pay taxes. Uncle Sam wants to be sure you do, so they make the prize donor fill out that tax form so they won't miss a cent!!

They are just making sure that you are eligible to win. If you work for certain companies that are affiliated with Wrangler, then you may be denied the prize. Some of them do have this question and the social is normal also.

They ask for your employment to make sure you don't work for the company that is sponsoring the trip. Some contests ask that question, some don't.

Have a GREAT Time!'

Any time I have filled out an affidavit, they request the SSN. It is for 1099 purposes. They never asked where I worked, though. There must be a reason.

They need the SS for taxes:( and your employment info to make sure you don't work for a company involved with the sweep. congrats and enjoy your trip

we won a trip to vegas last nov and had to fill out the same stuff no big deal we never had any problems. by the way great win and wish you many many more

Sounds like a legit win to me. SS# for taxes and they ask for employer because if you worked for one of the sponsors, you might be disqualified.

It can also be to check to see if you Work for Wrangler or any affiliates.

This.

Also, they *might* do a background check on you - SOP in trip wins where you could *possibly* embarrass the sponsor - look for boilerplate rules verbiage
background check

Rules always state that persons who work for the sponsor company (and usual a lot of other connected companies too) are not eligible to win. They just have to check.
