Fantastic Win!

A few days ago I posted a thread with the title "Help - is this win legitimate?". Well as it turns out, it was! I won the Extra TV make-up by Mark. I confirmed my address with them on Thursday and came home tonight to a FedEx package (my first FedEx delivery) and it made me so happy!!! :sunny:

It wasn't a small gift bag with make-up, but a large FedEx box crammed full of make-up, perfume and lotions. I have no idea what the ARV is, but it is a 60 piece set. When I asked if there was an afidavit for me to sign they said no.

How will I go about claiming this on my taxes? Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

:popcorn: If you win something under $600 then you don't have to do anything with taxes. From $600 on you have to file the 1099 paperwork and submit when you file your income taxes.

I think I'd try to see if I could find the fair market value somehow, if you can, and then report it come tax time. I'm sure that it probably wouldn't throw you into a higher tax bracket and then you won't have to worry about it in case you are ever audited. I get paranoid of audits so I try and report all my wins to the best of my ability.
