Email entries change request

I like to enter for DVDs, and as we all know there are a lot of sites that don't use php, so you have to manually enter the info into your emailer. It would be great if the format of the SA sweeps listing page was html and we could have clickable links that would load our email programs with the required subject line.

Can this be done? As of now, I enter email sweeps at another sweeps site which formats in this way, but would rather not continue moving between sites.

I forgot about that thread. Thanks. Also wondering if it's a tough change to make.

I like entering these. If you have a clickable link, it's done very quickly when you keep a notepad program or stickies handy on your desktop.

Are you talking about the sweepstakes that only give you an email address and no form to fill out? I don't think it would be too hard to create a mail to: link in the listing that prefills the subject. If you could give me an example of a sweep that would be good too.

Yep.

An example of what I mean is the Mom In The City giveaways. There's an email address in the prize info text, but it would be so much easier if it was clickable to our automatically load our emailers. As far as I know, the html code won't work the way it's set up now.

Thanks, if you can change this. It would make entries easier. :)

If its going to have the clickable link its also going to need the particulars.. some ask for different stuff. some just name and addy. others name , addy, email, age and sex.

The way it works is, you click on the html link on the page, and your emailer is automatically loaded with a send to email screen. The html code can be populated with the subject line (correct subject lines are important). The person listing the sweep would set this up.

As for the rest of the info, you have to put it in the body of the email yourself. I use a stickies program that keeps my info handy, and copy/paste.

What im saying is that the info needed should be listed with the email. most only ask for name and addy but some want everything but your first born. If I have to go to the site anyway to see whats needed in the body of the email whats the point of the clickable link.

I get what both of you are saying. Usually in the notes section of a sweep like this, it will tell you what you need in the body of the email. That is, if the one categorizing, validating, and submitting the sweep is willing to post it while doing the above. They could put said info at the bottom right before or after the rules.

Take for instance the Time Warner sweeps. gosweepwin will add that only Time Warner customers are eligible for Time Warner sweeps. They put that info in right before or after the rules...can't remember

Just an FYI-I used to have a little program that I was able to download to make Yahoo my default email to make entering these type of sweeps a breeze. Well, a couple weeks ago, I got rid of whatever yahoo crap I had on here(uninstalled some stuff)and now I can no longer enter these sort of sweeps so easily. And the program I used is no longer available to boot. I now have to open a different tab, open my gmail, and copy and paste the info.

Its a good point about yahoo or hotmail, gmail. The mailto: link will only work for people who have external email programs like outlook express. It will not work for people who use web type email for sweepstakes. This I would guess is the majority.

I use Yahoo! mail as the receiving address for sweeping, BUT use my desktop program to send. I set up an email account using Yahoo! as the reply to, and my ISP's SMTP to send. So the mails go out from the desktop, and the reply to is the web address.

Works every time.
